If you came for a pint here just once a decade, you wouldn’t find that much had changed. And it doesn’t need to, because the Lamb & Flag is just about as perfect a pub as you’ll find in the West End (even though it’s smack-dab in the centre of terminally touristy Covent Garden).
History hangs in the air at this low-ceilinged tavern; for example, in 1679, in the tiny alleyway outside, the poet John Dryden took a beating from thugs hired by the notorious poet and libertine John Wilmot, 2nd Earl of Rochester. Inside is dark and comfy, though perennial popularity means it can also be very crowded – especially when the nearby offices start disgorging their thirsty worker bees. Join the happy throng outside, or go upstairs (often relatively quiet) for a meal of simple pub grub.

SUNDAY LUNCH USED TO BE VERY GOOD(CARVERY STYLE),BUT FOR SOME REASON GRUB IS NOT TOO GOOD NOW.I WON'T BE GOING BACK UNTIL THE FOOD IS A LOT BETTER.GREAT SHAME,STEVE
I like this pub! I can only review for pints though. If you come before 4pm, the crowd is usually smaller. If it's 5pm, good luck finding a spot to stand. You'll have to stand outside rain or shine. It's quite lovely in the summer though! Drinks are reasonable priced for Covent Garden standard. Enjoy!
This pub is in the heart of London, but in a small street what prevent tourist to go there. It's what I consider an "old pub", a warm and cosy place. And having a wide range of beers.
A quality timeless pub with a great selection of traditional ales and a nice cornish cider. It's got a decent outside area to stand and drink in the summer. The service is quick and efficient. Just be aware that when standing outside you can sometimes get a strong waft of the pungent smelling drains.
Decent Boozer just off the main hustle and bustle of Covent Garden. Great meeting up pub with good outdoor drinking . Best summer pub in the local area.
Heineken and Peroni and tap, plus a good selection of ale - Fuller Pub so Pride, Seafarers, ESB,Frontiers, Oliver Island
Nice to see a good old traditional pub with good atmosphere, great beer & fantastic staff in a world full of overpriced and same old same old chain establishments!
OK so its not a great restaurant but it is a proper boozer in the centre of London with decent beer well kept, friendly bar staff and a good atmosphere in a historic building. A priceless asset among the chains and over-priced tat in Covent Garden.
Had a lovely meal there yesterday, shepherds pie with lightly cooked broccoli, delicious. And reasonably priced. The staff were very friendly and polite and helpful. Will defifnitely go again.
