An amazingly well preserved example of Victorian interior design, this pub comprises a maze of partitioned snugs around an ornate main bar, each seemingly smaller than the next (did we miss the bottle saying 'Drink Me'?).
In any case, the wow factor for first-time visitors is pretty much guaranteed, and there'll be more exclamation when the price of a pint becomes apparent: your Peroni will cost upwards of four quid. That aside, the Prince Alfred is an atmospheric spot for an intimate drink, located on a quiet junction where Castellain Road, Warrington Crescent and Formosa Street meet.
Once you've gawped at the interior, try and get a scuffed wooden table outside on the pretty tiled front patio.
