Don't be put off by the Castle Greyskull-like exterior or the faintly eerie pub sign: this is one of the warmest and most likeable pub interiors in west London. It's huge but cosy, a feat achieved by dint of a fire (in winter only, of course), soft woody colours and pleasing carpets.
During the day, kids are made to feel especially welcome to the point where staff will even host birthday parties for them. If you take your drink to the small slice of terrace at the back, the one with the contemporary furniture, you'll quickly realise why this is such a popular choice for families: the garden is enormous.
At night, back inside the pub, you can watch the big game in convivial company on a large screen. The full and reliable range of Fuller's beers is available, as is a commendably affordable range of food. The nearest tube station is a bit of a trek, but there's a minicab office next door - or you could stay in one of the guest rooms themed on Ealing comedies.
