Savoury cocktails, posh school dinners and a hot dog eating competition: it's LondOntheInside’s tips for July

Our mates at LondOntheInside have rounded up five things they’re pretty damn excited about this month.

After School Club, Round Chapel Old School Rooms, July 22–August 6

'We never thought we'd say this, but we really want to spend our summer evenings at after-school club. But don't worry, this isn't a place for snotty rug rats, it's the Art of Dining's latest pop–up featuring 'posh' school dinners with a side of theatre, music and milk monitors.'

Pickle & Toast, Wardour Street, late July

'Cheesus Christ! These fromage places just keep on coming. The latest is Pickle & Toast and it does exactly what it says on the tin. Grilled cheese sarnies with pickles. Simple but effective. We're in.'

Citadel Festival, Victoria Park, July 19

'Got the post-Glasto blues? Well fear not, there's still a whole load of festivals left to come. We're digging the sound of Citadel, which looks set to combine cracking Sunday arvo music with killer grub and all kinds of shenanigans including mass yoga. And you get to go home and have a hot shower and sleep in your own bed. SIGN US UP!'

Snacktail Bar, Greek Street, July 9–10

'The UK's first savoury cocktail bar is coming to Soho – and the drinks are free. Cocktails have been created by Matt Whiley (maker of the Pickled Onion Monster Munch) and there are flavours like Chilli Con Carne and Fish & Chips. We're intrigued.'

Hot Dog Eating Competition, Blues Kitchen, July 2

'The infamous Blues Kitchen Independence Day comp is back and this time they've brought in the big dogs. Literally. Big Apple Hot Dogs is what you'll eat and entry is just a fiver. The winner takes it ALL – well, a meal for two and a t-shirt. Go on, we dare you.'
