London’s trend for pub-clubbing continues apace in this revamped Shoreditch spot. During the day, it’s a good old East End boozer, but at night, the two-floor space turns into a disco hotspot.
Thanks to some quality programming, some of the scene’s best DJs, including the likes of Fabric’s Craig Richards, Secretsundaze’s James Priestley and the legendary Greg Wilson, have played in one of the pub’s three rooms.
Its latest addition, the Boudoir, could rival fellow pub-club the Lock Tavern as having the capital’s dinkiest dancefloor, which makes for an intense dancing experience. Further perks include a late license, the homemade grub and purse-friendly cover charges.

I held the "Contrarian Prize In the Mix" party at Horse and Groom on 11 December 2013. The venue is cosy, with friendly and welcoming staff and a first rate sound system. An eclectic audience of City bankers, creative inidustry professionals and others with a love of having a good time, mingled effortlessly against the backdrop of soulful House beats. The vibe was uplifting and the location of the venue, siting on the cusp of the CIty and Shoreditch makes it a very attractive venue to host events. Highly recommended.
We had our charity Christmas party in the Horse and Groom, and I am pleased to say that it was a great success. The sound system was provide, a microphone and a dedicated member of staff to look after us all night. By all accounts, every had a really good time and I would definately consider using this pub as a venue again.
Had a cracking private party in the Boudoir this Saturday night. The room came with decks, and an awesome sound system, with it's own quirky little bar with a friendly and fun barmaid. It had plenty of room for all my friends. Easy to book and extremely worth it, Neil made it a great experience from the start. I could not have asked more from a venue to host a party, and the rooms size made it intimate and a special experience with an awesome atmosphere!. Will definitely be recommending to friends and family alike. Thanks for a top night, you made our weekend!!
Neil was an absolute pleasure to deal with at all times when booking the upstairs floor for our private party. Just a thoroughly awesome venue and sound system, with a great atmosphere. The selection of music played is always spot on too. Thanks for a great night!
We hosted our 30th birthday party in Boudoir Room. It was fantastic...room is a great size, brilliant PA system (with mixing desk, vinyl and CD decks etc) and your own little bar. The staff were great fun and handled the night with the minimum of fuss...allowing us to get on with enjoying the night. Basically the venue has all the ingredients for a great night out and I would recommend it to anyone! Cheers for a great night H&G!
I rented the Horse and Grooms private room for my birthday and it proved to be a great decision. The music was brilliant, staff great and atmosphere spot on. The late license meant that we could stay there all night which made the venue absolutely perfect for a birthday. Would recommend to anyone. Cheers guys
I have thrown several parties at the Horse and Groom over the last couple years. The staff are lovely and accommodating, the venue is awesome and the music is always amazing. By far one of the best places to go out in London. I hope this review doesn't generate too much interest. One of my favourite things about this place is the fact that it is untainted by the mainstream masses!
I organised my birthday at Horse and Groom and Neil did a great job and got us on the guestlist! The night was amazing and everyone had a brilliant time.
Hi, I had used this venue to celebrate my Bday party. There were around 40 guests and the size of the venue was ok. But, what I liked the most is that you have your own waiter and also you can have your own music or DJ. (They provide you with vynil plates if you need them). They also have a late licence, so you don't need to have to worry about the time and the drinks have affordable prizes. Besides, the staff was really nice and attentive! So, really recommended place. Was a really good night! Thanks guys!
There are not many venues in London (let alone central) with a great soundsystem, late license, good music policy and a reasonable entry fee. H&G is a refreshing exception from landscape of bars with 2am close and nightclubs with £25 entries. Had great nights on both the ground floor and the Boudoir upstairs. Also, the wooden interior is ideal for house/techno as the bass is warm with zero reverb.
I have just hosted my birthday here in The Boudoir Room and it was amazing! Great location, staff, music, etc etc! Would highly recommend!!!
Fantastic venue in the heart of Shoreditch. Known for quality music and a decent pint. Also available for hire, which I cannot recommend enough. Super staff and close to several tube stations.
There is always a quality music policy @ this iconic Shoreditch venue. Good DJs, cool vibe! The horse and groom respects and nurtures cutting edge electronic music. Affordable prices too.
Very nice and intimate venue to listen cutting edge electronic music. The horse and groom always has a fairly good listed events policy with quality DJs. Affordable prices too!
Guys !! If you want a nice service you can go in a lounge bar, i think you went a the wrong place for what you are looking !! But if you want nice music and a good location that s where you have to be !
Absolute dump of a place and the staff are rude and obnoxious. It's a shame, as they do attract some pretty good DJs, but it really isn't worth the aggro. This used to be such a great place to party, but now that they let in anyone stepping off the train from Essex, it's gone massively down hill. Rude staff, rubbish crowd and they let too many people in. I won't be going back.
I don't know what this place is like during clubbing hours, but as a pub it's lousy. The staff can rarely be bothered with normal clients or maintaining a decent bar. They seem incapable of predicting when they'll run out of items and ordering ahead, so even on the rare occasioin wen you might find a decent beer is on, it's unlikely to remain on for more than an hour. In the old days, when it was just a pub, it was a decent enough old pub and had plenty of business. Perhaps it should just stay closed during the day and the early evening to avoid regular punters getting their hopes up. Perhaps they could spend the time training their staff to be more polite and efficient. Dreadful.
Staff is very rude and unprofessional! Please DO guys remember that we are your customers and therefore paying your salaries!!!! NO need to be rude! Just serve drinks and do be disrespectful!!!
