  • Wonderful show. Wish I had got a guide book. Has anyone got one for sale? Ethal Short.

  • Was a great show but yet again for the second year running we got only a brief view of our fantastic Chesham All Girls band girls who were playing as part of the Corp of Drums. Why isn't someone alternating who is seen on TV - not everyone who wants to see the show can get to London to do so and this is the only other option. I'm sure they weren't the only ones missed out of the live broadcast - at the very least the entirity of the full parade should be uploaded to the BBC website so it can be viewed later by family, friends and supporters alike.

  • Saw the Lord Mayor's Show on TV this morning- teriffic, as ever. But am astounded that the fireworks have been cancelled this year on what is frankly a very flimsy premise. Granted, it's been a big year for celebrations and of course both the Diamond Jubilee were accompanied by fireworks. BUT- and it's a big but- they could only be seen live and in the open by the lucky thousands who'd got tickets for the Diamond Jubilee Concert and Olympic Stadium ceremonies respectively. They may have had some TV coverage, but it's not the same- especially when BBC coverage cut away from the Mall fireworks too soon! The Lord Mayors Show fireworks are one of only three occasions in the year when the PLA allows fireworks to be fired from the Thames, the others being the Thames Festival in September and New Years Eve. This unique backdrop allows everybody the chance to watch from riverside vantage points, and the reflection of fireworks in water adds a magical quality to proceedings. I think there must be more to this cancellation than meets the eye- or doesn't as the case may be. What a pity that the already beleagured Corporation of London have drowned a last chance to celebrate a world-class city in 2012- the next display technically falls on 1st January 2013, after all. Had I not thought to check out websites, I would have wasted a journey up to town to see the fireworks today, and deliberately didn't worry about seeing one last weekend in expectation of tonight- this cancellation was very poorly publicised. Black mark, my Lord Mayor!

  • It's a shame that yet again, no mention was made by the BBC of the Freemasons taking part in the parade, and only a distant shot of them marching past. Seeing as how they are only second to the National Lottery in raising money for charity. The Lions got a mention though :)

  • It is a shame! No Fire works display this year on Lord Mayor's show.. Breaking the 685 years old of tradition! Visitors from other countries would definitely be disappointed! I don't agree the reason .. A silly reason for a great city of London that too when a person like Boris is the Mayor!!!!

  • Right because we all got to go to the opening ceremony of the Olympics and to the Diamond Jubilee celebrations. This was a chance for those who didn't get to these but are still expected to pay for it all to have a nice day out and a great send off. Which is pretty much EVERYONE in London!!!
