Owner Annemarie van der Meer loves to point out all the quirky space-saving surprises as she shows you round her wonderful and idiosyncratic bed and breakfast: here’s the folding sink, there’s the bed that pops out of an antique wardrobe… The special atmosphere at this double-fronted Victorian house, set on a quiet Hampstead street, means that guests return year after year.
Each room is uniquely decorated with eclectic furnishings – like the French steel bathtub in one room – and there’s a self-contained studio with its own kitchen. All guests may make use of a range of home comforts, from hot-water bottles to mobile phones, as well as a laptop to borrow. Breakfast (£7) may be taken in the garden that surrounds this lovely property on all four sides.
