London Wetland Centre is one of the city's best places to bring the kids closer to nature and this autumn it is running special Nature Play sessions for pre-school children. Led by an experienced forest school leader, the nippers get to play in the centre's willow sculptures, hunt for minibeasts, cook in the mud kitchen, play hide and seek and tell stories - if the weather's inclement, there's even a yurt with a warming fire.
Bring wellies and splash suits, gloves and a warm hat, as well as a snack and drink – or buy refreshments from the site's cafe.
Note: places are limited, so book ahead on 020 8409 4428. Both adults and children must pay admission to the London Wetland Centre (free for WWT members), plus £5 per child for each Nature Play session. All children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
