This new gallery provides a dedicated space for visitors to deepen their understanding of climate science through interactive exhibits and a variety of objects that explain how the climate system works and how it is studied by scientists, and summarise the current state of knowledge about climate. Exhibits include an interactive 'gallery world', with its own atmosphere and landscapes, five 'story zones', each using hands-on exhibits to explore different aspects of climate science, a radiometer used to detect sea surface temperature from space, as well as objects such as a stalagmite sample, used by scientists to unravel the secrets of Earth's past climate. Historical perspectives on climate science are illustrated through the work of pioneers such as John Tyndall, the first scientist to comprehend the link between greenhouse gases and global warming through laboratory experiments.
