  • Critics' choice

If you're after a scarily accurate replica of the classic ’90s shoegazing sound, Night Flowers are your four lads and a lady – even though none of them look old enough to have heard Lush and Catherine Wheel the first time around. It may be retro, but...

Theft. Went to the Shaklewell Arms after a birthday meal. Left a bag containing gifts and bottles of Champagne with the security staff, who insisted it would be safe. On the return of the bag items where missing to the total of £60. Sadly the CCTV didn't cover this area. Not a great establishment.

Great venue/pub. But definitely not suited to the typical fuddy-duddy Time Out readers. (read below)

This place has some of the worst organisation I have ever seen: Despite buying a ticket & queuing for well over half an hour we were met with angry and clearly frustrated door staff. A man pushed in the que and started a fight with someone, they let him in. the staff were overworked and unhelpful: Even politely asking where the toilet was was met with rudeness. I would avoid this pub if you are looking for a safe and enjoyable evening out.
