Manchester’s answer to Pet Shop Boys, Hurts peddle their bittersweet synthpop in machete-sharp suits. Their last album ‘Exile’ was rather overblown, suggesting they’re aiming to compete with the bombastic likes of Muse. But they’re generally able and entertaining enough, summoning nostalgia for the ’80s electro of Ultravox and Depeche Mode, so this intimate showcase of new material is worth a look-in if you can get a ticket.
