The barista was a miserable Aussie, who took an age to make a flat white. They roast their beans for far too long, making the coffee way to strong to the taste. It's a common fault with indie roasters unfortunately. Give them a few more months of complaints and they will eventually get it right. The space is clean, bright and a wonderful place to sit and drink a hot drink though. R.

Great tasting coffee. But the service can be embarrassingly slow - it took 20 minutes today to make a flat white and there was no apology from the staff - just a surly lack of interest. Very disappointing.

This place is probably one of or the best places for a coffee. Yes they don't obsess they just make good coffee and a lot of it. Never seen this place not packed. Service is great - shoreditch is renowned for being a tough place to get a smile. Have only ever been treated well in this hipster joint. I have been once a week at last for the past year and wouldn't go anywhere else!

Hello flat white. Hello mortadella sandwich. Hello hot girl who was on the till today. Nothing not to like about Allpress except its full all the time.

Love

Love my weekend ritual of Allpress.. Eggs and soldiers, fresh oj and yummy filter! Had the Eccles cake too today. Was amaze! Can't understand comments below.. All the girls and guys are super nice! Just wish was more seating!!

I just read the crappy reviews when googling the actual name of this cafe and felt compelled to provide some balance - I had the first decent flat white with an extra shot coffee there this morning after 6 weeks in Europe. I saw them roasting the evening before and couldn't wait to get there this am. The coffee was perfect and the price was comparable to what I pay in Perth which really is expensive for what you often get. The staff seem normal for this grunge meets hip designer area and I sat and read the paper and used the ipad and Internet via subscription wi-fi happy as pig in the proverbial for an hour or so and quite comfortably despite the ebb and flow of other customers. Bought a takeaway for my wife and she gave it two thumbs up. I wish this was my local coffee joint!

Bad coffee

This place takes forever to get a coffee. Bad service with no apologies after a 20 minute wait for a takeaway coffee on a non busy morning.

Too bad i read reviews just now...before going there. Stuff are not nice..with weird sense of humor. I asked if they can add more milk to my latte (was way too strong) and received "No", i was silent for a sec like wtf!? Then lady realised i didn't get her humor and just went to make some more milk for me... For my taste coffee wasnt nice... Also i ordered one almond croissant ...thought i would break my teeth, was hard like a stone! Friend of mine ordered sandwich..all ingredients came separate..so u have to make it your own...which is interesting, but whole hard boiled egg!?? Then some of the stuff came to measure our table while we were "enjoying" our meals....i found it quite rude.

hk

coffee was good, service could do with a smile (at least a fake one). They need to rearrange the tables.

Samantha

Coffee was ok but the staff really need to learn the art of customer service. Rude, disinterested and not even a fake smile! With such strong competition in the area this is not a smart choice in behaviour!

Coco

Allpress is the nearest coffee shop for me so I really tried to like it. But the girls behind the bar really need to improve their customer service skills! I ask myself everytime when I leave the shop who has recruited these people!! I have to say that the girl with the Eiffel Tower tattoo is really nice, but the rest... I never heard "hello", "thank you" or anything else from the others. They just place your coffee (take away) on the bar when its finished, without a word or a smile.

Becky

Great coffee... Great staff all bar the one older lady who was particularly rude with a huge attitude. Shame she let the rest of the girls down. There are many coffee shops in the area and she's given me and I'm sure many others a good reason not to return. Not so bad now but given the area they can be sure the hype will run down!

I just love Allpress... they are currently closed for christmas and im really missing the place. The staff make it what it is... the little red head dani and blonde gemma really make the place what it is. Calling people by name and teasing the locals. Mixed plate is AMAZING with egg, avo, ham, cheese, tom and some mixed toast. Another favourite is the stufffed mushrooms. Allpress we have been waiting a long time for you! Im a yoga teacher around the corner and so happy its only a little walk for great coffee, service and a smile!

Beautiful coffee shop and the roastery in the same room only adds to it. Minimalist wooden furniture and fresh coffee just go so well together. Coffee tastes great in the cafe as well as at home if you buy some beans or ground coffee. Did not try sandwiches, but looked good. I don't get dboy's comment about the ongoing gentrification of Redchurch Street. Its not a Pret, not an Eat and the coffee is superb. And it has soul! Before so-called 'gentrification', Redchurch Street was just another pitiful alley of same, same, sad boozers and unappealing fake leather shops. But each to their own...

I love Allpress and have to disagree with the comment below about not having wifi.. I'm tired of seeing mac books on every table and people treating social spaces like an office. Also to call it drip coffee this person doesnt have the taste buds to comment. Sandwiches are great, if not on the expensive side but staff told me everything is sourced from the best and this will obviously reflect in the price! I'm happy to pay extra to not eat cheddar on hovis white bread.

Neighbour

I did enjoy coming here as i just live a few doors down, the coffee tastes great but the amount you get is ridiculous in comparison to the price you pay, but we are all hipsters and put up with it. While waiting in the queue today I ripped my £5 note by accident and asked if they could just tape it and they refused. I could have paid by card but a taped note is still just as valid and as a regular i decided that they should have no more of my custom, the next shop down the road didn't mind and shall be henceforth my place of choice. Thankfully this area is beautifully gentrified so it wasn't a long walk to find another overpriced coffeeshop.

Worth a visit, as a non-londoner, I like the quirkiness, yet, smart presentation of Allpress. I know there are probably hundreds of independents that deserve my patronage, but the staff were friendly, it is clean and bright. The on-site coffee roaster is pretty cool too... As far as the coffee goes, it's London, you pays what you gets... if you like coffee, go to Allpress, if you like milk and syrup, with a single weak, poorly extracted coffee shot waved at it, then by all means, hit the starbucks. Well run, and good coffee drinking staff, so at least they like what they serve!

Nat

£2.50 for a take away coffee that tastes as good as it gets is cheap in my mind considering down the road at your chain franchise you pay £2.20 for the same size but get more milk and hazelnut flavouring than anything else... The staff are friendly, funny and enjoy themselves. The food is equally good.
