Venue says: "Authentic home-cooked Italian classics such as authentic pizzas, oven-baked classics, antipasti plates, salads, desserts and fine wines!"

It's rustic Italian fare at this Kingsland Road restaurant. There should be a warm welcome (the name translates as 'my friends'), with pasta and sourdough pizzas served alongside regional dishes from both the mainland and Sardinia.

The menu follows the classic Italian format. Burrata and bruschette feature on the antipasti menu; tagliatelle al Cervo (slow-cooked venison ragu with tagliatelle) and risotto di Montagna (risotto with wild mushrooms and truffle oil) on the pasta course; and frittura di mare (deep-fried calamari and tiger prawns) and maialetto sardo (oven roasted suckling pig) on the secondi. You'll have to pre-book the latter, though.

Those sourdough pizzas (there are 22) come from a wood-fired oven, and you can choose to have them in a classic or Neapolitan style. Desserts feature tiramisus, warm chocolate and pear cakes, ice creams and a sweet pizza with custard cream, strawberries and banana flambé.

Our food is fresh, seasonal and homemade. Most of all, it’s simple and delicious...

Amici Miei – 'my friends' - welcome to our Italian kitchen.

We are passionate about homemade Italian cooking and our seasonal dishes are proudly made fresh every day in the traditional Italian way.

Just so you know, our pasta is home made from scratch. Our sourdough pizzas are made using a slow rising process, proving over a minimum of 48 hours and then cooked at 450˚C in a traditional wood fired oven.

Why not visit us on our Tuesday ‘regional nights’ where we take you on a culinary journey to some of our favourite places back home?

My husband, friend and I went out here to dinner last night. My husband ordered the bruschetta special with diced tomatoes and ham whilst my friend and I split the veg pizza with courgette, aubergine, tomato, mozzarella etc. She also got a mixed salad. The hubs said the bruschetta was fine, nothing special. The pizza was very good: a just slightly chewy dough base with a heaping pile of veggies per slice. Not the best-tasting pizza (again NY wins every time) but still better than Sodo's Pizza Cafe. My friend liked her big salad proportion. They ordered the chocolate cake with caramel ice cream for dessert and both said the cake was a dry disappointment. The caramel ice cream was amazing though with a caramel flavour so intense it was like butterscotch.

I've been to Amici Miei twice now, and despite still being unable to pronounce the name correctly is is an excellent option for pizza. The queue can be fairly long unless you reserve, but it is definitely worth the wait. Inside it is bustling and can get quite noisy, but the food is definitely worth it. There is a huge range of pizza toppings, but I would go with the one the restaurant is named after- Amici Miei, for a taste explosion of parma ham, cheese and rocket. It is delicious and the one I come back for, though the four cheeses is also very good. Service is friendly, if at times a little slow because of how busy it gets. A great option if you're in Shoreditch and hungry!

It's always hard to find a good Italian pizza place in London and I have tried my fair share. A friend suggested Amici Miei the other night, as we couldn't really decide where to go to. The waiting time of 20 minutes gave me the opportunity to have a look at the menu - it took at least those 20 minutes to decide what to eat. And being vegetarian I'm used to going for more or less the same toppings each time. By the time we were seated and ordered our drinks (my friend picked an amazing looking passion fruit cocktail, whereas I went for a less fancy beer) I was able to take the atmosphere in. The place is buzzing (in a good way) - it can get slightly loud, but overall it has a brilliant vibe.

When the food arrived it looked and smelled great - being kind of starved by now we stopped all conversations and concentrated on the food. My mushroom, parmesan and truffle oil pizza was amazing. No additional seasoning needed. I loved the lack of tomato sauce, cause it does not have to be on every pizza (mind the toppings).

I think the only "negative" bit was the waiting time - but it was well worth it and I would definitely queue again (or just make a reservation).

So whenever you're out in Shoreditch - go and grab your dinner at Amici Miei.

Being Italian, I'm super picky about Italian food. A guy brought me here on a date, and somehow the food was really good. I was impressed with the menu, actually combining things that are meant to be together on a plate. I hate it when they offer you parmesan on your fish pasta. Fish and cheese don't go together.

The staff was really nice and accommodating. We had a great time. And whenever I miss home, I order from them.

Impressed

Had a simply fantastic dinner last night- the service was attentive and exemplary- the pizza is great but I get the feeling the pastas and other mains might just be even better! Loved it. Cant wait to go back. The standard is pretty high considering the number of poor quality restaurants in this part of the world. Yes it 'compact' and 'noisy'- but this place is still not yet a victim of its own success....

The best Italian cuisine in East London! Chef Tanzanu's Sardinian cuisine is a concentrate of passion for cooking, use of fresh ingredients, and respect for tradition. The outstanding food and buzzing atmosphere makes this restaurant the perfect venue for a meal before a long night in one of Shoreditch's clubs and bars. Best dishes so far are the Tagliere di affettati as starter (mix of Sardinian salami, cheese and crispy bread); Scialatelli alla piscatora and finally Coniglio alla Sarda (special recipes of chef Tanzanu). The wine choice is also up to the food standards; great choice is the OFFIDA PECORINO ‘’LE MERLATTAIE’’ CHIU’ CHIU’ MARCH. The average price per person is £30/35 per person (including wine) which is great for the quality of the food. Looking forward to go back very soon!

We had some delicious meals in a lovely atmosphere: The cook is very good and the cooking is really sardinian. Food and ingredients are fresh and first class. We are looking forward to come back to London and have another meal at Amici Miei.

Buzzing atmosphere, kind and helpful staff and, most important, excellent food (starter: Gattuccio, main: Gnocchetti costa smeralda, dessert: Profiteroles) This is one of the very few restaurant where I can find not some standard, off the shelf italian dishes, but amazing and refined food. Highly recommended

Great pizzas. Authentic food (i'm Italian), friendly staff, nice ambience, warm and nice smelly. Average price but very good quality. Much better than the close Pizza East!

Bekim

The ambience was fantastic and extremely appropriate for the location and clientele. The pizza was even better so I would highly recommend it.

Sometimes i wonder who they send to review these restaurants for time out! They often seem to give average places 5 stars and then give a great place like this only 2! I have been twice and the food and service are both brilliant. Simple, fresh, traditional Italian food done very well. Highly recommended.

Time Out might have visited on an off-night or perhaps, as I increasingly suspect nowadays, don't know what a decent restaurant is. Tasty, authentic and regional pasta dishes with quality ingredients and some of the best pizza in london. Though not on a par with zucca in bermondsey St, this is a very good neighbourhood restaurant that turns out great Italian home-cooking at very reasonable prices, and deserves more than 2 stars, so in the interests of balancing out the score given by the reviewer it gets a full 5 from me.
