A homely little taverna just off the main Camden drag, Andy’s caters to those looking for an easy-going meal in welcoming, unfussy surroundings. Diners range from groups of overseas students to couples who are clearly regulars. Everyone is well looked-after by the congenial owner. The low-ceilinged space is simply decorated in typically Greek blue and white, the walls adorned with touristy island photos and snaps of the owner smiling alongside various customers. The food, unfortunately, could do with a little more work. Green olives with a bitter tinge and too-salty pickles brought with the menu were improved upon by satisfying starters of tzatzíki made with thick, creamy yoghurt and served with puffy, oven-warm, sesame-sprinkled bread. The vegetarian platter appeared to be good value, and included toothsome grilled halloumi, but had little else to recommend it – the spanakópitta and moussaká were too greasy, the pepper had been stuffed with bland rice and scant veg. Meat dishes are somewhat better: the souvláki tender yet lacking that essential chargrilled flavour; the perennially popular kléftiko cooked, rather unusually, with tomatoes. Be sure to order a malty, refreshing Keo beer, which beats insipid lagers every time.

Very welcoming staff, a wide range of food and an authentic Greek atmosphere - I'd highly recommend it, and will be back soon!
Belated review of two visits we made to Andy's last year:
We first stumbled upon this restaurant one evening last summer when I met up with my son - who was back from uni - for a film and a meal. The owner, Petros, was very welcoming and attentive, and provided my son with advice on what to have, as he'd never eaten in a Greek restaurant before. The kleftiko was superb - it simply fell off the bone - and my son was also very taken with the Greek coffee that Petros had recommended (which my son, a tea drinker, had never tasted before). We were very impressed - not just by the tasty food, but also by Petros's hospitality.
The next time my son was in London he asked if we could go to Andy's again - a break from the norm, as up till then we'd always sought to sample a different cuisine each time we met.
Petros recognised us right away, and gave us a table at the window. The food was just as good as before, and at the end of the meal Petros brought some metaxa over - on the house, as was the dessert. The restaurant was not as crowded as the previous time, and we had ample time to chat. I even got Petros to pose for a couple of photos with my son, and he showed us a photo of Rowan Atkinson, who had been to the restaurant a day or two earlier.
In summary: really tasty Greek food (and lots of it!), great value for money, a lovely atmosphere, and excellent hospitality. I've recommended the restaurant to a couple of friends who live nearby. When summer comes around again I intend to sample the courtyard.
Enjoyed a great Sunday afternoon meal, despite being the only customers, post matinee at the Roundhouse. Had the fixed menu with cold & hot starters, calamari, hollumi, mixed grill & lamb kleftiko. Tons of food followed by a free dessert! Great friendly service, beautiful flavours & tender meat - all in all a great afternoon! We'll be back, thank you!
We recently eat at my favorite Greek restaurant in London which was as usual very busy. Petros & his team where their usual hospitable hosts. I highly recommend this Taverna for lovers of Greek... Evi
Myself and my fiance visited andys on the 29th of September 2013 , the food was fantastic the welcome even better, the staff couldnt do enough for you,the local people were very friendly too, we would reccommend Andys for a great evening out in a relaxed atmosphere.
Excellent food and very reasonanly priced. loved the garden in the back which is smoking friendly. Could do with sightly better service even though the place was very busy. highly recommend the fesh frilled fish with greek salad and home made chips. super stuff. wash it down with a bottle of domatiko. 9/10 marks .
Had an amazing diner in Andy's ! Food was lovely and in really big portions and the staff was just great ! The whole dinner ended up singing and dancing with the whole restaurant ! Nice terrasse in the back also ! Really recommend it!
Excellent food, amazing service (especially in larger groups). Always a great night - Andy's mezedes all the way!!
was not impressed, food bland, service was nil, there was no gin with tonic, had 2 ask 4 bread for tzatziki, onions missing from stiffado, 1 small greek salad between 3, had to ask for more salad, all main dishes come with salad but only 1 between 3, when we complained owner was very very rude. Was only sorry we were english as staff couldn't do enough for the greek customers that were there at the same time, My son has been before this was his 3rd visit but he wont be going back
I went here with my wife as we were looking for an authentic Greek restaurant. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. We had the set menu for two and the food was delicious and reasonably priced. We had a very good night and would go back again and recommend it to anyone.
A group of 15 of us ate lunch here last week. They gave us the dinner menus and tried to talk us out of the lunch menus. We ordered and were told one price for our meal but was overcharged on every meal on the ticket. Food was very mediocre. We will NOT be back and we are telling our friends not to bother.
