A dazzlingly white-shirted welcome whisks diners off busy Upper Street into Antepliler’s nightclubby, chandelier-lit interior – or, if you’re lucky and it’s summer, back out on to a pavement table.

From a menu boasting the köfte, stews and pastries that make the Anatolian city of Antep famous, there’s plenty to tempt. Highlights of mixed meze were the flat discs of sesame-studded falafel; lowlights were the stodgy cabbage dolma. Given that köfte are a feature of the menu, ours were surprisingly chewy, but forgivably so: sweetly stewed with shallots infused with the refreshing sourness of pomegranate, in one of the Antep specialities. Antep salad – a tart, wet mix of finely chopped tomato, onion, parsley, walnuts and pomegranate – also made a piquant change from the norm. Thoughtfully, bread, puffed up like a football, was flourished with a heat warning: typical of the charming service.

All the cooking might not have the delicacy of the intricate mother-of-pearl marquetry tabletops, but presentation is artful. Antepliler makes an occasion of a cuisine that ranges from bargain street food like lahmacun to the can’t-fail appeal of aromatic meat, melting aubergines and silky creamy yoghurt. A delightful spot.

My local favourite, great service even when very busy. Consistently great food quality, go for the specials which are all tasty

Awful. Waited 15mins to be asked if we would like a drink. Ordered starters mine came out and was told my partners would be a few minutes waited 20minutes until we decided to leave not one waiter noticed we had food missing. The food I did have was good but the service really let them down.

fairly food good, but some reluctance to want to serve the pre theatre menu at 6.30pm. although not a direct 'no' but the menu wasn't offered, we had to ask and we were told it was small portions and there wasn't much time left; even though it finishes at 7pm. one of the waiters was quite solemn or dare I say miserable. we were in quite a large group so spent a fair amount of money...although no one to bid us farewell and thank us for our custom...did leave a tip but kind of regretted it.

'Gazi' does not mean 'Glorious'. It means 'Veteran'. Its name was changed from 'Antep' to 'Gaziantep' in commemoration of its role in the Turkish Independence War, mainly against the occupying Italian and French troops. Tut tut tut on the spurious and ultimately wrong translation :p

Oh how we love this restaurant. Just don't want too many other people to know about it. If you do go though, the vegetarian mezze is to die for.

Went last night for mother day and was amazing!!! The service was incredible - our waiter was so so friendly and really keen to help us make our choice. The food was mouth watering and at less than £20 per person inc drinks,entrees,mains and coffess you cant go wrong. They provide complimentry bread and olives and they they also treated us to a free icecream since we brought our mum. o glad I live close as this place is now my new Local!! LOVED IT AND WOULD RECOMMEND IT TO EVERYONE!!n
