Best Mangal and Best Mangal II are sister restaurants on the same strip of road. Both have busy takeaways at the front and easygoing restaurants at the back. Best Mangal is a bit smaller and perhaps even friendlier than Mangal II. On a warm spring evening, it can have the scent and sense of a Mediterranean holiday. There’s a broad-ranging menu of hot and cold meze and various skewered and barbecued meats, plus a few yoghurt-sauced dishes, and salads. Our mixed hot meze was indeed mixed, in terms of quality. Fried lamb’s liver and the garlicky stuffed mushrooms both received the thumbs up, but too many items – kalamar, börek, hellim – were fried and greasy. Mains, from the ocakbası, were better. Patlıcan kebab (thick slices of aubergine interspersed with spicy minced lamb patties) had a bewitchingly smoky aroma and flavour. Yoghurtlu sis, the grilled meat taken off the skewer and served in a dish topped with lashings of tomato sauce and a hearty dollop of yoghurt, tasted authentically Turkish. With side dishes of tomato-flavoured rice, excellent saç and pide bread and good olives, you’re unlikely to leave hungry. A deservedly popular duo.

Agree with the reviewer below. Went to Best Mangal II for dinner with my partner expecting to have a lovely meal as their take away food is amazing, only to have the worst restaurant experience ever! We were made to sit in a little corner, which we didn't mind, until no one came to take our order for a good 15 minutes and resulted in my partner going up to the counter to ask for someone to take the order. When the waiter did come he said "oh you're in the corner, that's why" as if it was our fault for sitting there. When we asked about something on the menu, the waiter rudely said he didn't know, as if we had no right to ask. When the food finally did come, it was delicious, but the service of the restaurant left us feeling really aggravated and ruined our evening. Will not be returning!
I just went for lunch for the first time today. It's just the kind of food I like; simple ingredients and well executed. I had a lamb kebab that came with garlic and chilli sauces on the side and a gourgeous crunchy mixed salad. I opted out of the flatbread but that looked delicious. I recommend! Hope they expand to North London soon.
I have been going to this restaurant and getting takeaway there for years. It is always great - the food is always fresh and healthy. I can see the food being cooked and have never been disappointed. There are 2 branches in the area and this is the only one I use.
This is my local an I eat maybe one or two week. Never fails. I spend part of the year in south Turkey and I can't recommend this place highly enough for delicious, barbecued meat and Turkish salads.
Never Go there!!! This is the worst Turkish restaurant I have ever been in London. I wouldn't give a star. I am Turkish and I have never tasted that low quality food in my life. If the food they serve is Turkish so I am not Turkish then .We ordered doner kebap. What we got was over cooked almost burned fat on the top of tasteless rice. So we couldn't eat it. When We returned the plates they didn't bother saying "sorry" and also charged the full price. Never recommend this place to anybody at all.
