I have been to Caravan before and the food (if you get blessed to get a chance to even order) is tasty and fresh. As a New Zealander, one of the few things I miss from home is a good brunch cafe. Caravan does good coffee and has a good feel to it. Usually. Today my experience was upsetting. Today I took a fellow kiwi friend there for a special 'last breakfast in London' meal. Knowing Caravan is popular I knew we may have to wait. That's okay. Sometimes you have to wait. But and hour and a half? Seriously? Waiting in the cold we saw a few people just give up and leave. One girl was very polite and expressed she had waited for an hour and a half but now had to go. She was upset as she had watched so many come after her and get seated before her. We waited like chumps outside in the freezing, ignored completely by staff for an hour and then asked the waitress when we could get a table (for three) she said we were next on the list. Half an hour later and several people leaving and more groups being seated, we realised that whatever seating system they had, our table of three was well at the end of any priority. I will now never go back. They lost at least £70 (be aware they are not a cheap place to eat). Should you experience similar, please don't wait an hour and a half, jump on a 19 bus towards Finsbury park (bus stop across the road). Get off on Blackstock road at the Riversdale road stop and go to Globe where the customer service is excellent and the breakfast (around £5) is just delicious. I recommend Flat White and Milk Bar in Soho for yum coffee. It is such a shame as Caravan could have made the whole experience easier by just talking to us and being honest about the wait. Or even just talking to us AT ALL. On leaving I explained to the waiter that we had seen at least three or four groups get seated who had arrived well after us.The waiter did not apologise. Pretty stink really. I wanted to show off a good food place and left feeling like an invisible person.

Had an unforgettable lunch, the food was wonderfully brilliant and the staff friendly and helpful. Certainly a favorite of mine.

wow! i had the best birthday of my life! i can't wait to come back. The food was simply outstading, the wines (suggested by the waiter) were delicious and natural! thanks guys i wil see you very soon!

"good for the hip factor" says it all. Staff are outright rude on the phone when you try to book for brunch and it gets worse if you show up to queue. They clearly have their reputation cemented by raving reviews and make NO effort to offer decent service. We left numerous times for this reason.

The first time I went to Caravan was when it opened a few years back. Then the food, atmosphere and staff were great. I recently went back for dinner and unfortunately this time wasn't so good. I agree with quite a bit of the negative comments. The stuff were nice enough but pretty nonplussed and the food.....we just had a selection of starters and they were cold (I assumed they were reheated) and not very tasty at all. Very disappointed. The Roasted Beetroot was literally out of a supermarket packet (I'm not exaggerating), Goat's Curd and Butternut Squash was a tasteless mess, the Aubergine with Miso marinade was cold and the marinade was extremely thick/strong/sickly, and the Corgette loaf was ok (think average coffee bar carrot cake). Needless to say it was pretty much empty and Moro just down the road still had people queuing. Not Good

God I have tried to like this place (been 3 times) but the burnt coffee and uber cool staff mean i will not be going back. This cafe for the arty set that don't mind the bull that goes along with this place.

Looking for a good breakfast after a night on sleeper from Scotland we followed the reviews to Caravan. Hmmm, admittedly the atmosphere was good, lovely attentive service, ( apart from one guy who swore profusely, calling fellow worker a****ing retard!), but the breakie was v v disappointing. Honey roasted meusli with stewed pears was more like dusty grape nuts with diced canned pears, sourdough toast was cold and soggy. Coffee was good, but not so sure I would give it another try.

I had two coffees- flat white and a capucino- both the best coffee outside of monmouth by far! Had the fries (refried from the day before) and the lamb bun which was recommended by the waiter who was attentive. I wasn't impresses with that choice at all I must say. However, I had the molting, chocolate, lava like heaven thing with creme fraiche sorbet for dessert and a green tea, brand Qi and I was blown away! Go there for the green tea and the dessert alone, if you go for any thing! Its worth the visit. Then I had a coffee. I feel guilty for calling it simply coffee because of it seemed more than that... fantastic, whipped, milk with rich, deep, soothing coffee bean flavour seemed like I was being served a coffee with a warm blanket of love. Thanks Caravan for making my trip well worth it. I only came for the coffee and I was given a very nice treat.

Fabulous dishes, good coffee and great atmosphere. Totally loved the beef cheeks and corn fritters. Pork belly was a bit overpriced that's true but overall it is a great little restaurant to enjoy all year long. Nice to come for brunch too.

The food was excellent as was the coffee. It's true that the waiting staff seem a bit disorganized, perhaps overwhelmed by how many customers there are and offers no baby changing facilities, but it is a great location and surprisingly tasty food.
