Cha Cha Moon was opened by Alan Yau (of Hakkasan and Yauatcha fame) in 2008, but soon afterwards the Kuwait-based conglomerate that financed this brand-in-waiting became the majority stakeholder. It’s a low-budget yet stylishly designed no-bookings restaurant serving the Hong Kong staple of soup noodles. But instead of focusing on Cantonese mein dong (noodle stall) classics, it offers a culinary journey that ricochets around Singapore, Malaysia and all corners of China. We played safe with an order of seafood ho fun, and a crispy duck lao mian. The lao mian (in this case, tagliatelle-like flat noodles) were served as a neat but claggy mound, the fatty duck to one side – a bit of an assembly-line dish. The ho fun at least contained a good array of seafood, though the rough chunks of onion and cloying sauce undermined the other components. Service was confused and haphazard. The once-stylish light shades – now badly scorched by the light bulbs – remain unreplaced, and the rest of the operation also seems to be showing signs of disrepair. Prices have risen markedly despite this, with ‘main dishes’ now costing £15 or more, though the smaller dishes (around £7-£9) are sufficient for most appetites.

It might be in one of the most foodie saturated areas in the West End (Kingsley Court) but Cha Cha Moon is heads and tails above them all. I've been eating there since they opened in 2008 and their Singapore fried noodles is still a knockout. Cheap, cheerful but generous on quality. The only catch is that it gets insanely busy on the weekends - and you might need to chase up a waitress or two for your meal. Otherwise, it's one for the hit list.
I went the one evening of a friend recommendation, I had Singapore noodles and some dumplings. The noodle came fast, but the dumplings came a while after I finished my noodles.
A cheap yet satisfying lunch stop in the heart of the Carnaby St experience. If you're looking for a hearty alternative to expensive sandwiches on offer in chain cafes and also want to get away from the the busy streets, give this place a try.
These 1 star, revues seem fake.... it's reasonably priced, amazing food.... excellent noodle bar style service... 100% better than Wagamma and its type. When your in central London and want a quick bite to eat, this is your place.

Really wish I'd have read the reviews before going here. Should have really known as everywhere else in soho was a 30 minute wait yet Cha Cha Moon had loads of tables. Really is a poor mans wagamama, the Thai curry tasted like hot water with curry powder mixed in. I'd recommend persevering with the queue down the road at Busaba or failing that nip to the corner shop and invest 69p on a beef pot noodle, you'll enjoy a far more authentic and all round tastier experience
I went to Cha Cha Moon with a friend last night. The food was bad and the service was appalling. We were warned when we ordered that the food 'would arrive as soon as it's ready'. Our mains were served separately, with a 30-minute gap. The noodles were tasteless and unappealing. The duck salad at £8.50 ended up being pieces of duck with a couple of lettuce leaves. I had to ask for tap water twice as my order was blatently being ignored. The waiter finally swung ONE glass of water across the table as he dashed passed. At this rate, we might have had better service at a fast food joint. Not going back, that's for sure!
First and last time at cha cha moons.I was absolutely appalled by the service, 3 noodle dishes arrived 30 seconds after we had placed the order so naturally we didn't think it was for us as had ordered starters. The waitress was so rude and made it clear she was really annoyed when we realised one of the plates must be ours even though no sign of starters? 'But you just said this wasn't yours' (and sighed!) I have never had such poor service, and when we mentioned it on departure they explained it was because it was so busy. Manners don't cost anything! Left irriatated and the food was pretty poor anyhow - disappointed with my main but the starters were ok. DO NOT GO HERE!!
I have never bothered to review a meal before, but was moved to do so today following what was probably the worst food I have ever had in a restaurant. Truly inedible - and when I said so at the end of the meal the waiter didn't offer any apology, which added insult to injury. Yes its cheap, but any amount would be too much for the food I was served today.
Terrible place, avoid at all costs. Mushy, overcooked noodles, flavourless sauce and dry duck. Amazingly manages to be worse than Wagamama, quite a feat!
I've been to quite a few top notch restaurants and would recommend this one to my friends. Service has improved over the years but this isn't fine dining, its a noodle bar. Food is freshly prepared unlike other places I've been to. The char-grilled chicken lao mian and xo beans are my favourite dishes. The lemongrass, lime and apple is an excellent thirst quencher. If you're still hungry go for the banana and melon fritters, alot for one person but they're delicious and addictive. I don't understand why so many negatives, this restaurant has proven to be on of the best places for noodles at affordable prices. Well.. thats my opinion.
I don't understand why all these reviews are bad. I've eaten here often, never had an issue with the service (yes, it's not fantastic) and the food is great. Beef Pepper Udon and the Chicken dumplings are my favourites, but I've been here with friends, dates, people from work and enjoyed it every time. Ignore these other reviews.
