Terrible service, we were waiting for more than one hour and were arranged to an awful table. Waitress ironised us because we ordered free tap water instead of rechargeable tea!!! In fact after she laughed at us she did not bring about any tap water! The taste of this restaurant is just a little better than other restaurants in chinatown. The main reason why my friends and I chose this restaurant as we were attracted by timeout award this restaurant presents on their window, but both of us are so disappointed.

Golden Dragon’s auspicious name, large façade and prominent location give it an advantage when it comes to attracting passing trade in busy Chinatown. Its reputation as a good-value destination for dim sum and other Cantonese fare was evidenced by the number of full round tables when we visited for a midweek lunch. The cooking is generally decent enough, although quality of ingredients often loses out in favour of keeping prices down. The large, spacious dining room is decorated in red and gold, with panels depicting Chinese ladies at leisure. The dim sum are generally more filling than refined. We found most meaty fillings bland, whether in steamed siu mai dumplings or beef cheung fun, while some pastry cases were overcooked and stodgy. In contrast, our har gau were full of bouncy prawns, and the taro croquettes were deep-fried perfectly to form a crisp lacy shell encasing a mushroom and pork filling. Dishes of quick-fried squid with straw mushrooms and sweetcorn, and chinese broccoli stir-fried with garlic and ginger, were generously portioned and fine. This isn’t a place to be adventurous, but its classic Chinatown dishes rarely disappoint.

Absulutly teriable experience. Food was average for china town. But service was terable. Waited 20 mins to have order taken and 30 mins for starter and then main course. After complain about there service were still face with 12.5% service charge. Asked for this to be removed and the waitress turned angry and agressive towards me shouting at me and brought in another waitress who did the same. One of the worst restraurants in China town. Slow serivce and rude and agressive staff. Stay well clear.
Probably the worst restaurant I've ever been to. After 20 min I had to find someone to take our order. She barely listened to us until she realised our order was less than £10 each. I then told her that there's nothing written on the door about a minimum amount to spend. She started shouting at me and forced us to order something more. After that she starting shouting about us in chinese to another member of staff to make sure everybody around us could hear, people kept staring at us. Then came the bill, I asked the waitress to take off the sevrice charge and, all of a sudden, she didn't understand english anymore! We paid the amount by card and she stood at the table to see if we were leaving tips by cash. I never leave any reviews but the way they made us feel just pushed me to do it. As a waitress,I am always very nice to the staff. My advice would be stay away from this place!
Food is nice, but serice terrible. It's like they know they are going to be busy and so don't give a damn if you're happy or not. The service is bearable if you don't have any issues with anything but just hope and pray that nothing goes wrong otherwise all hell could break loose. The guy who opened our champagyne bottle got a lot of it on the table. So we asked for a new one (didn't think that this seemed unreasonable given the price). They refused and so I said could we have some kind if discount on the bottle instead then seeing as a glass full was now on the table, which was clear for anyone to see. The manager was brought over and he decided he didn't want to do anything, even offer us a glass of wine (which in truth we didn't want). We decided to leave, being followed by an hysterical screaming watiress who told us 'why didn't you just let it go, you're the worst customers I have ever seen'. I felt humiliated. She was literally screaming at us at full throttle following us out of the restaurant. Everyone was looking. I've never been spoken to by anyone like that before in any restaurant nor have i never seen such a public display of bad service with anyone else. It ruined the whole night for us and I am still in shock today. I would never go back there again, it's not worth the risk to your night.
went last night. the food was good here, I'd give the service about a 3/10 but considering I went on a friday night and the place was extremely busy (2 packed floors and well over 100 people dining) i didn't mind at all, the food was served on time and at the right temperature which is all i really care about. I really enjoyed the wonton soup and the salt garlic chilli prawns. we were not rushed out despite the number of people there and we sat over a good 2 hours, enjoying a bottle of saki after our meal. it's not the cheapest restaurant in chinatown, but the food is good and our portion sizes were good and I took a doggy bag home that provided lunch for the next day so, once again, no complaints. no fortune cookie with our bill though :-( - i'd recommend this restaurant, lovely interior and busy atmosphere, good food and acceptable service
A common Chinese restaurant, the food is quiet good there. Although service is not as good as some other restaurant. But "poor service" usually would be seen in Chinese restaurant. For the staffs works for quiet long hours. I am a Chinese so I can accept some "annoying part". If you cater for delicious Chinese food. It's a good place to go. Recommend Beef with Black Bean Source and Pepper as well as Seasoned Vegetables with Mushroom. Like them a lot! :)
My Wife and I had a pre-theatre on a Saturday evening. Looking at the biz in the place we thought 'this must be good'. The soup was almost cold and on conclusion of a much better main course the bill was thrust upon us. We politely said we weren't finished and asked for decaf coffee which they didn't have. We accepted normal coffee which was served in something no bigger than an egg cup. Overall somewhat dissappointing!
Visited Golden Dragon on the 19th with friends, the food was tasty and plenty of it. Service could not be faulted, the supervisor - Bobo was a pretty and charming delight and made our evening very special. I shall most definitely be visiting again!
My boyfriend and I ate here on Friday night it was about 8pm and the place was pretty busy already yet they still found a table for us immediately, within a short time all the tables were full so it's a popular place to eat. The manager (man) was friendly and funny and our waitress was brilliant, funny, patient and helpful and made lots of menu suggestions for us. Food was all lovely we had mixed hot hors d'ouevres, lobster and then sweet and sour with rice and noodles. The drinks were served promptly and with a smile. I had a fab time and will recommend it to everyone, we'll definitely go back.
