  • Highly recommended. At the crossroads between casual and fine, the portions are very surprising for Indian influences. Had a very nice Kingfish curry with topiaco mash. Very fine, perfect balance between the two and very well presented. Forget about the huge Indian portions you cannot finish and too much curry sauce. My dish was perfectly well balanced and delicious. Very good service too and very nice drinks.

  • Having spent most of my life in India and originating from foody-mumbai, I was really disappointed with Imli. We were out as a corporate team of over 15 members for an early Christmas dinner and were directed to their Christmas set menu. the set menu had 2 options, Set Menu A £23.95 and Set Menu B £28.95. The Set menu B was simply Set Menu A plus a couple of added main course dishes. After waiting for half-an-hour, when we checked on the food, we were told that we were yet to decide the Set Menu we would like to go ahead with. 1. If the restaurant had gone ahead with the starters, it would have saved time as both set menus had the same starters. But, they decided to wait and wait and not approach us until we questioned the food order. 2. The dishes on the Set menu sounded authentic but were not the ones we ordered. The chef really needs to re-train himself on the dishes. a. Chicken hariyali was a dish on the menu....i.e. hariyali signifies greenery...also the green base for the curry made from corriander, chillies, etc...but the dish was yellow...based on turmeric and fresh cream ....the dish didn't taste great either b. Goan fish curry...- I know this better, as I originate from Goa......It's supposed to be a coconut base curry..thick curry..made with typical Indian fish types e.g. pomfret, rawas, surmai, halwa.....but this dish was a sweet tomato curry paste... and had tilapia pieces...absolutely ridiculous... 3. The pudding/sweet dish on the menu was 'White chocolate and chilli Panna Cotta with chocolate brownie and raspberry coulis' - How indian is that??? there are amazing Indian sweets that people would love to taste..!!! 4. To make matters worse, they offered 'orange sorbets' to the vegetarian folk in our team, and when questioned why didn't they offer the vegetarian folk with the same dessert as us, they replied that 'pork gelatin' was used to prepare the earlier dessert. One of our team members a 'muslim' was offended as he wasn't told that it had 'pork' extracts....another gaffer..!!! Would I visit the place again or recommend, you probably know the answer already.. A big NO!!!

  • We chanced upon Imli via theatre and meal deal on 15 Feb 2012. It was nice ambience, good service and very enjoyable experience on the whole... Starters choice of alu tikki and papdi chaat was yummy though bhel puri was a let down- so try avoiding that. Mains were just right portions and though hubby found lamb mince hot, kids' enjoyed chicken tikka thoroughly. I preferred their mixed veg free dish more than my matar paneer :) They gave a scoop of ice cream too... Would recommend a visit for certain...

  • Me & my husband had lunch at Imli today, our first visit. Had booked 2 for 1 offer online for 3 PM, but finished our work in city early and wanted to come over early. Called to check and the staff agreed readily. Nice! Well, we showed up and the restaurant was quite nice. Very friendly staff, not very crowded for the weekday lunchtime. The staff did mention about our reservation and helped us settle down quickly. We went for the vegetarian option and the food was very good. The four starters were particularly impressive with Dahi Papdi Chat being the best. The main course that followed was equally good, the Aubergine dish was divine. The portion sizes were just right, The dessert was a nice Mango & Basil sorbet with refreshing mint in a berry sauce (Raspberry?). The mocktails were very good, clearly the passionfruit & Lychee one was an outright winner! The lemon one was a bit strong though! We leave the place after 60+minutes very satisfied - not just for the excellent food, not even for the affordable price but also for friendly "not-too-over-powering" staff and relaxed atmosphere. One of the best places we have had authentic Indian food (North Indian style with emphasis on Indian Tapas or "Chat") in a long, long time! You will be seeing us come here more regularly!!!

  • How disappointing finding out that the very easy online booking facility on Imli's website has been replaced with an unfriendly third parties booking form. It used to be so simple to book online, now they require you to register before making the reservation. I will call from now on. It is a real pity.

  • You couldn't be more right about the irritating waiter, we've had the misfortune of being served by him on more than one occasion and he grates more each time. I'm sure he's a lovely person, just needs a bit of training on how to behave with customers...
