The Turkish eggs are out of this world! I can guarantee that you never had anything like it!

Really gutted that this was so disappointing. Went for brunch on Christmas Eve, food and service was not what I'd expect, given the hype and it's pedigree. The much lauded Turkish eggs were underwhelming to say the least, they refused to throw together a basic mimosa, some of the staff were very patronising (the Maitre D was lovely, but very much the exception), and the veggie breakfast left my Mum feeling sick because it was so oily. It wasn't really busy so I have no idea why it was so joyless.

A busy, buzzy restaurant/cafe just a stone's throw from Covent Garden. There's nothing touristy or 'chain' about this place. It's noisy, with it's Turkish tiled floor amplifying the morning cheer from happy groups of mostly young diners. The coffee is great - not something that London is renowned for (but which seems to be getting better every time I visit). Having first dished up a decent double machiatto, the barista doesn't blink when I order a cortado for my second and the result is a perfect pour. The star of the show however is the brunch menu. Inventive and tasty, it's a million miles away from the standard English breakfast. Don't go past the Turkish Eggs a wonderful and unusual concoction served in a bowl with a spoon - taking a carefully constructed spoonful of soft poached egg with the yoghurt and chilli butter with a torn up piece of sourdough toast results in an incredible flavour match. If you can handle the buzz of a popular brasserie style space this might be the perfect brunch spot on a cool and rainy London Sunday.

I've been to Kopapa for brunch and dinner and have to say that the food was exceptional! There are some really innovative dishes on the menu and because it changes all the time it really is worth it to go again and again. The only downside is that it can be quite pricey.

The food (and cocktail list) here is delicious and innovative and there's always a nice buzzy atmosphere. I particularly love coming for brunch - there are always so many yummy things to try that I end up way over-ordering!

No - five stars NOT AT ALL justified. Three at best. Went based on the five stars given here, and was pretty disappointed. Nothing at all interesting or novel in the 'fusion' food; sauces all tasted the same; ribs not well cooked - dry and bland. Too noisy, tables too close, you have to shout to be heard (as therefore your neighbours do too, compounding the problem!) And pricey for the standard of food. Learning point - read reviews of actual customers alongside Timeout review, which is ridiculously effusive!!

No sense of customer service or business sense at all and big headed! I tried to make a booking for Sunday brunch for a group of 14 in 2 month's time and first of all they couldn't accommodate us for 1 pm so we agreed for 11 am which for most of us is really getting up at the crack of dawn if you partied hard the previous evening. Then we were told we had to clear the table by 12.30 as they can only give a 90-minute allocation per table. By the time people arrive and you order we probably would have had an hour to eat and leave immediately after. I did mention we were 14 people spending at your restaurant, couldn't you allocate at least 30 more minutes? The purpose of brunch is to relax and take it easy. But no exceptions could be given we were told. So even before we ate there we already got a bad impression and reading the reviews, I am glad we didn't miss anything. Who do they think they are?

I wish I had read the actual reviews on this place rather than just the totally absurd timeout rating. The food was OK, but certainly not spectacular. My wife had scallops which was OK but gritty and I had TomYum Spring rolls which sounded a lot tastier than they actually were. We both had the pork belly for mains and again it was OK, but it was a flavour combination which wasn't entirely successful with the Lychee salad. The fries were, unbelievably - soggy. How can a 5* rated restaurant serve soggy fries? Ridiculous! It was the service however which really took the biscuit. We were shoved in a table entirely too close to the other diners, to the point where we were virtually sharing tables. My chair kept being knocked by the staff bustling past and despite the staff seeming to be rushing hither and thither constantly the service was virtually nonexistent. It took about 15 minutes after we had finished our main course before we eventually managed to catch someones eye to take our plates away and then again trying to get the bill became a challenge. Finally the Maitre d' enquired as to why we were unwilling to pay the service charge, at which point we thought things might improve but still we had to ask twice for our coats before we eventually went to collect them ourselves as our taxi was waiting! Never again! There are so many great restaurants in London - don't bother with this one.

I've never written a review of a restaurant online. But I feel pretty strongly about my experience here. We had an awful time. Made to wait for ten minutes by the door while they got our table ready, we were then packed in like battery hens a the back of the restaurant (despite having booked ahead) where we were virtually sharing a table with three other couples. The waiting staff seemed inexperienced and poorly trained - several times they knocked their trays full of drinks into my and several other diners packed into the back of the restaurant, they forgot to take our order for twenty minutes but took orders from other diners who arrived after us, they were surly, brisk and couldn't even crack open a smile. The food here is actually rather good. Sea bream was lovely, with crisp skin and in a tasty broth. Pork belly was unctuous and with a nice butternut squash mash. Sorbet and brownie were more than passable. Despite this, however, myself and my wife were left in a much worse mood after an hour at Kopapa than we had been when we arrived. I think we might go for a quick sandwich at Pret next time....

Stopped by on a busy Saturday afternoon. What a disappointment! Most of the staff we dealt with were hardly polite, tense and inattentive (Poor welcome, had to ask many times to pay the bill, nobody answered our clear Goodbye...). I know: Saturday afternoon... But still, it is a very expensive place and I don't think we had been rude or had any unusual request. Food: nothing special really, and very small portions (we had ordered 2 desserts). A plate of various homemade chocolates and biscuits came very small and dry. My mistake, I should have thought that an assortment is often a way to get rid of old food. The stewed winter fruit with a scoop of sorbet was slightly better, with a more sophisticated palette. 2 coffees: rather good (from Monmouth), although with a hint of bitterness that I had never tasted in any Monmouth coffee. However, I do not appreciate to be lied to. We had ordered a skinny and a normal cappuccino, but were served two identical coffees that were... latte, and both made with semi-skimmed milk (the waiter confirmed). Again, no big deal, and usually I wouldn't care. But given the price... We felt stupid. Overall, the typical experience of a fashionable restaurant in a buzzing area that knows there is no need of any particular effort to attract customer. Time Out, what was going on the day you ate there? Could you review your review any soon?

Letdown

Booked here for a pre-theatre meal, wish we hadn't. Staff were rushed and spent most of the time trying to shout requests from a distance as the tables are far too close together (which probably expained a carafe of wine arriving instead of a bottle, and a medium rather than well done burger). The belly-pork and salad was fine, but not worth £17 - you can get the same at any vietnamese restaurant for £8. All in all a thoroughly disappointing experience - not 5 stars in anyone's language.

What a bad experience! The food was rather bad. J and I ordered three different dishes and none of them were good. No taste at all. And the place lacks atmosphere. A memorable outing ruined by the food at this restaurant.

I had the worst experience of my life in this restaurant. I had been there twice before I found the service very poor, the staff rude and unprofessional. However the last time I went there it was the highlight of them all. Despite of the fact that I had a booking which I had made it personally on the phone, they had no table for me and my quests. They did not try to accommodate us in any way and they said we have to wait for an hour for a table! I found it extremely unprofessional as they had given our table to the customer without a bookings. I must say the first time I ate there the food was good and that is why I returned however the quality of it had gone done massive the second time and will never ever go back there or recommend it to anyone. It is over priced and the staff are rude!

We go here at least once a fortnight..love it! The ricotta fritters are by far the best I have ever eaten. Service is 10/10. Would go there all the time if I could!

Tried Kopapa tonight and was pleasantly surprised with their food - very well prepared and tasty. The waiter(ess) was quite attentive and making sure that our table was cleaned after every course. I did not enjoy the seat very much though as it gave me a bit of sore bums and my friend did not enjoy the setting as well... Then there was the smell of the smokes from outside tables and they have not close the doors so my nose was completely blocked and throat been hurting after left the restaurant this evening (allergic to the smokes). The ambience and the quality of the air was not great this evening and it really makes me question if I should have gone back next time or taking clients/colleagues to it.

Kopapa has dramatically deteriorated since opening around a year ago. On a visit for brunch last Friday I sent my breakfast back three times before the right order arrived, by which time my partner was finished & my food (having presumably been sat on the counter for 20 minutes) was cold. There was no apology or offer to take the item off of the bill. Given the cost (£40+ for breakfast for two) this is really unacceptable. There are better alternatives in Soho and Covent Garden.

This place is by far the biggest rip off in central London. The tables are on top of each other so no personal space whatsoever. The staff is completely average, but the real infuriating aspect of this place is the "tapas concept" frankly just an excuse to sell tiny dishes for the price of a normal main anywhere else. We spent £40 each and we left the place starving, such an unenjoyable experience. If you are prepared to spend around that and have a remarkable dinner The Opera Tavern is a much better choice in the area.

Excellent food, had a selection of the small and large plates from a very interesting menu, each dish excelled. Service was excellent. Highly recommend the double fried blue cheese starter and the cod main.

I had been looking forward to going to the Kopapa restaurant for so long! I finally ventured out to Soho for breakfast there this morning with clients and what a disappointment. The waitress forgot almost all of the fresh juices, just ordering a glass of water took 20 minutes and even then I had to remind the staff. It wasn’t a busy service either and we were only a table of six. The dishes arrived at different times so some had finished eating by the time others had just started. And the worst of it, the poached eggs were over cooked. The easiest dish a restaurant can serve. I brought this up to the waitress which was obviously pointless as it wasn’t even taken in to account by the end of our meal. For a chef of his calibre, this is not what I expected from a Peter Gordan venue. Kopapa is no match for Providores and I won’t be returning.

I went with high hopes as Providores is reliable. I left disappointed. The menu sounds great but the savoury waffles (chilli?) were a bit dry. There were mixed reactions from the group we were with - a bit hit and miss depending on what you order.

Great food with an original menu, which I enjoyed reading. The ricotta cakes were delicious! It was a shame we were ignored by the staff the entire time having to ask a few times before getting some water or the bill at the end. I will be back though to try the chilli & onion waffles & hope the staff are more attentive next time.

Had fantastic lunch at kopapa, there were six of us and we mixed up the dishes, could not have been better, too good for lunch was the general consensus, we will be back for dinner
