  • Our experience was: impeccable service, super-friendly and cute front of house staff; and kitchen taking pride in what was being sent out (rightly so). Food was delicious. Agree with SamNad: loved it, would recommend it and will go back.

  • Lardo's - read the reviews but wanted to come in as its new and local. Thoroughly enjoyable experience. Found staff friendly, attentive and relaxed. Busy with a good atmosphere. Loved it and would recommend.

  • Good experience - restaurant busy but attentive service; excellent starter of frogs legs; superb pizzas and good value. If I lived locally would most definitely visit regularly. [There is a problem with keeping the high ceiling venue warm and free of draughts - so don't sit near the doors - in these winter days, but that is not something fatal to a visit!!].

  • Looks like somone has it in for Lardo, and can't believe I ate in the same restaurant. I was in for dinner last Saturday and although it was busy we were greeted by an especially attentive waitress. She talked us through the menu and recommended us some fantastic dishes and was friendly and approachable... we weren't too pleased to be sat up on high stools over looking 2 start with.. but by the end of the meal we had forgotten! Great food and great service!

  • This morning (Thursday 7 Feb) a friend n I decided to check out Hackney for lunch n I did a quick search of Time Out online for places to eat. Saw the photo of Lardo n TO's review n decided it looked interesting n worth a go. I have just returned home n only now have I seen the very negative reviews n can't believe I have eaten in the same place. OK, it was not busy but the waiting staff n chefs were particularly friendly n helpful. The Lardy Loin antipasto was excellent n very tasty, I had the large bowl of onion soup n my friend had the mushroom pizza, both were perfectly good n value for money. We enjoyed the buzz of the place n the OTT pizza oven ;) I would not have bothered with Lardo if I had seen the reviews. It just shows that its not always a good idea to rely on reviews. Either the restaurant has had a few off days recently or Eliza the owner - see below - has got the whip out! I for one will happily go back.

  • I was at Lardo friday last week and found a particular watress at front of house curt and not friendly. I have been a couple of times and have experienced the same reception. I have been living in Hakney for many years and am not used to this snotty reception. On a plus note the chefs were very friendly even though they were very busy and its a lovely space. I think the pizza and pasta are great but a little more selection would be welcomed. The food selection on this particular night was very rich varying from creamy dishes, liver ragu and squid ink pasta. I would visit the restaurant again in hope there may be a less rich selection of food to choose from and a more friendly reception.

  • I am answering Eliza the owner. I was at Lardo last Saturday between 7.30 and 10pm I did not expect excellent service since I believe that lardo is a place for simple food trattoria style where service is secondary What was applaling was the quality of the food. Ok the antipasti were good but coldcut meat is hard to get wrong. I had frog legs as a primo tasted like fishfingers The real disappointment was the main course i think it was paccheri in ink and fish based sauce. It was basically uneatable..i had one bite and snt it back..i was offered a substitute but at that point i was so turned off that I just wanted to get out of there. But who knows...maybe the pizza is good

  • Although this is a review site, I am writing in response to the reviews found. I am the owner of LARDO, and after reading the last few responses feel compelled to respond. I am a great believer in feedback, and I am naturally very concerned to read that some of my customers have had bad experiences. We do our best to offer a good experience to all our customers, but we are a busy restaurant and it is apparent that we don't always get it right. What is frustrating on this forum is that there is no opportunity for any return response, no opportunity to try to make right what has obviously gone wrong. The anonymity perhaps gives the reviewer freedom to write whatever they feel, but it makes the complaint or compliment very unproductive - we don't know what day it was, which table you sat on, or who your waiter was. But this still doesn't explain the inconsistent service, the delays or the other issues that have been raised and which we are looking into immediately. Also: as of today, we have created an opportunity for feedback that will be sent to all of our customers who provide us with an email. You don't have to respond, but if you do have an issue we would love to hear from you. And we also love to fix things as they arise - the best solution is the immediate fix, so please let your waiter know if you are unhappy or disappointed and we'll do our best to change it. For those that have reviewed already, I would love to respond and attend to your complaints personally but as I am unable to contact you, please do contact me on eliza@lardo.co.uk. I hope to hear from you soon. Many thanks for reading.

  • Lardo is one to avoid! Terrible service, very rude staff and incompetent chefs who forgot half of our order and then lied about it. After waiting an extra hour for our food we decided to cancel as it had taken so long. They had the cheek to charge us for drinks rather than waiving the whole bill. Will not be going to Lardo again.

  • It's 4th time to go there. Their service is worse and worse and the time to wait for pizza is longer and longer. We reserved to go there at 18:45 and we left from there at 21:15 although we ordered neither a lot of foods nor drinks. Just needed to wait for everything (ordering and food). Although we reserved, we had to sit the table by the door (many people use this door to go to the toilet and next room? is really cold and door seemed be a bit hard to close) so my husband needed to close the door almost every time they passed the door. It might be a small thing but actually really annoying. We ordered the dessert (it was difficult to understand what they are because of Italian with no description) but mu husbands came quite late after I finished my one... I went to there for our small anniversary but to choose Lardo was wrong. I felt complain for almost everything (our seat, waiting time, service...). I chose there as I liked their pizza and dessert (although they didn't have the one I wanted order..) and I booked as I knew Lardo was popular restaurant and hard to sit a nice seat without booking) so anyway, I was very disappointed this time.....
