  • Le Mercury is our favourite restaurant in Islington. We have been countless times, and always take our friends and family when they visit. Its atmosphere and the quality of the food never fails.

  • Tasty simple French food, with a good atmosphere. The perfect place for a wine filled dinner with friends or a quick and easy stop off on your way home. Can’t beat it at that price.

  • Eating out in a new place can sometimes be hit or miss. After dining at Le Mercury at the weekend I can say this place is a hit. Great atmosphere , friendly staff, tasty food and all at a very competitive price. I would definitely go again and wouldn't hesitate to recommend

  • Usually relying on Time Out to advise the best places to eat in town, I felt downhearted about having made a reservation at Le Mercury before reading this review. However unsure I was I kept the pre theatre booking. I don't often write reviews but I felt it important as this one is very misleading. Trust your instincts. A restaurant that has been going for so many years and obviously doing so well they can open another just yards up the same street must be doing something right. And they are. A thoroughly enjoyable meal and all served with a smile. If only I could say the same about the production we went on to see.

  • Awesome food, great value for money, the time out review makes me think that they visited a different restaurant, as my whole experience was different love this place!

  • What a bizarre review... I've been going here for years - I came across this review when searching for a link to recommended this restaurant to a friend. In answer to the reviewers comment: "the place was packed on a Saturday night. After our meal, though, we were left wondering why." Both restaurants are probably the most vibrant on upper street offering good food done well at a good price - it's as simple as that. Calling a menu trad (which I assume is short for traditional *hipster reviewer*) and food ordinary in way of criticism is very odd as this kind of food is clearly what the clientele - myself included - want.

  • Absolute nonsense! Le mercury is a great restaurant, always leave feeling full and satisfied. Lovely food, great portions and great prices, agree with the below comment - the wine list makes it a really good night without the worry of spending more than you expected. Very reliable for a good night out.

  • Completely disagree with this review! le mercury is one of my all time faveurites- the fact you have to book every day of the week and they opened a second one to handle the demand shows much more than this one sided snooty review. Le mercury is not a pretentious restaurant its casual and comforting. Yes the restaurant is always packed and very close tables but it has a lovely vibrant atmosphere helped my the attentive staff. The food is so cheap for London and good portions, best of all is the wine list- starting at £10 means you can really enjoy a whole evening here without worrying about the bill at the end! Perfect!

  • Totally agree with the Time Out review - awful service and basic food. It's opposite Ottolenghi which I had a great view of as I ate the uninspiring French food - I should have gone there! Service was rude too. Will not go back.

  • We didn't even get to eat when we went! We booked a table at the new second Le Mercury, but when we arrived we were told that although they had our booking the restaurant was full. The restaurant had apparently either taken some people in who had not booked or had over-booked. We were asked to come back in half an hour but we were not at all confident that there would be a table at 8pm when the restaurant was so full at 7.30. The person who spoke to us was distinctly unapologetic about it. This is the first time in 20+years of dining out that a restaurant has failed to honour a booking and I am left distinctly unimpressed.
