  • hahahaha. It was great when it was Cafe de Hong kong...maybe it has gone crap since the Hong kong people left? :) I love this place for how easy it is and fun and centrally located...but maybe I will just drink there but won't eat there now. Not sure...the name change is ominous.

  • This restaurant used to be my only love in Chinatown, they did really good soy chicken while I was studying in Bristol in 2003-2006. Every time I went to London I would go this restaurant. I left England 6 years ago but the soy chicken has always been in my mind. Back to London again yesterday first thing was go to this restaurant to try the soy chicken...disaster!! The soy chicken was too soft and tasteless, some of the rice was hard and the ginger and spring onion dipping was absolutely tasteless!!! The price was a lot more expensive than it used to be. I was hugely disappointed! I had a slightly bad stomach after the food. It used to be very busy in this restaurant and always packed with Asian customers but it was only a couple of westerners there. I think the restaurant might have its owner and chef. I will never ever go back to this restaurant again!!!

  • This restaurant seems to be characterised by deceitful labelling practices. I ate their earlier tonight thinking that the service charge was entirely optional, as all of the menus said "Recommended Gratuity 10%". However, when it was time to pay the bill, the waitress refused to accept the basic point of the English language that the word "recommended" does not mean "mandatory". The supervisor was summoned and the supervisor threatened that if I did not pay the service charge as well, the establishment would refuse to serve me in future. I paid the service charge, as I don't feel it is appropriate for me as a Christian to be creating a scene over only £1, but I would seriously advise anyone reading this review against visiting this restaurant: - the deceitful labelling practices when it comes to the service charge make me inclined to wonder if there are other areas in which they try to unscrupulously extract money from customers. To my mind, the word "recommended" in this context means "recommended ONLY", i.e. optional. If the service charge is only "recommended", it should be entirely possible to simply not pay it without any loss of face. Don't touch this restaurant with a barge pole.

  • This cafe/restaurant used to be good about 2 - 3 years ago but since it was mentioned in a mini London tourist booklet, it has gone downhill fast. Prices have shot up, quality of food has gone down and the last time I went for a quick noodle, I've noticed that it is not as busy. I won't be going again and I have since found other good reasonable places to eat and I won't be recommending this place to friends again. The day I went, they had a table set outside the restaurant with free cold drinks (like smoothies, etc) as a taster to tempt people to go in. I won't even give it a one star rating (cafe de Hong Kong)

  • Awful service, awful food. Expensive for what it is. Tried to complain but the waiter told me to 'forget about it'

  • If you like being berated for not giving a tip, after being asked to move mid meal with the wrong food you didn't order which tastes like crap! by an angry owner who turns to the other diners in the restaurant and says "all of these people are going to pay service"!! Then this is the place for you! WORST RESTAURANT EVER!

  • Went to this place and what i could say is non other than AWFUL. i made myself swear not to return although there must be at least once a week I dine around Chinatown. Worst so far. The food is just simply served. That kind of business minded boss oh god! When the receipt came, like all other restaurants, there is a RECOMMENDED gratuity added in the end and I thought I'm nt gonna pay and the boss came to us saying it is COMPULSORY for service charge. My argument was if it is for service charge I am so happy to pay if the receipt actually says service charge but it says RECOMMENDED gratuity! Seriously?!!!!

  • Simply put the worst food I have eaten in at least the last three years. The cuttlefish was simply awful and the less said about the duck tongues the better although I honestly couldn't say a good word about any of the dishes. Service was poor at best, even when you factor in the price which isn't even that cheap when you consider what's on offer in other places in China Town. To top it off several of the dishes were not available and there was the undeniable whiff of us being given the end of day left overs, despite it being only 9 when we went in. It really is saying something when the dish that are party enjoyed the most was the boiled rice.

  • I went with 5 friends feeling pretty optimistic about this restaurant, prices looked good and some of the food sounded different / exciting. We ordered a fairly large variety, whole duck, sweet and sour pork, cuttlefish, ducks tongues & pigs trotters, brisket curry, fried beef dumplings and some rice / noodle dishes. About a 1/3 of what we ordered was unavailable but we managed to replace them with other items. The food came within five minutes and was largely disappointing. We had to send back 5 of our dishes because they were only warm at best. Even after we had sent back 3 or 4 dishes the waitress continued to bring us out more ambient dishes. The dishes then came back again so quickly that they had clearly been microwaved. The duck was thoroughly flavourless, the curry sauces were greasy and tasted like they were out of a jar. The best dishes were the noodles and special fried rice which were buffet standard. We failed to finish most of them. When we complained at the end the old chap who manages the place said that many of the dishes were meant to be cold (I found this unlikely as they weren't cold but a bacteria loving body temperature), and that since we weren't happy we didn't have to pay the tip. We explained that we weren't paying the tip anyway and in the end left paying £70 for the six of us. We all left feeling a little queasy and still hungry
