Harrow is happy to have this convivial BYOB venue serving sizeable portions of Afghan comfort food.

The nondescript Harrow location and the plain square dining room (with a takeaway counter to one side) might not be instantly appealing, but Masa really delivers where it matters. The restaurant is popular with local Afghan families, who fill its long tables with chatter and enormous amounts of food. A TV burbles quietly in the background, to keep the kids occupied, and the whole kaboodle envelops you in a warm fug of talk and cooking aromas.

Rather than the classic mountains of fluffy pilau full of nuts and lamb, we chose delicate parcels of aushak dumplings with a spicy leek filling, topped with yoghurt and minced meat. We also ordered a warming, hearty stew of okra and lamb: perfect comfort food. The affable staff brought huge discs of soft, fragrant bread warm from the oven, and the standard side salad was made crisp and lively with carrots and fresh mint. Masa’s menu shows many culinary influences from Afghanistan’s neighbours (Central Asia, the Indian subcontinent, the Middle East) and is astonishingly inexpensive.

There’s no booze (though you can bring your own), but there are various juices and lassis – all the better to enjoy the hefty portions and delicate spicing.

We love Masa!!! We have been coming to Masa for the last 4 years and I must say the food is just SUPERB! Everything on the menu from the starters with to many choices to name but the BEST Greek salad in town and delicious Dahl with home made flat bread, then there's Mantoo meat dumplings that you must try and the family platters just superb combination of BBQ meats and afghan style rice. The curry's are also delicious-our favorite is the Sabzi lamb- lamb with spinach. You must give Masa a go I'm sure you will love it!!!

Wow!!! Honestly, such a lovely fusion taste in every bite!! This restaurant is a warm welcome in a neighborhood of greasy halal chicken burger joints and poorly made pizzas! If you haven't tried Afghan food before- try it today!

I tried Masa because the good reviews. I went there during lunch hours on a Saturday and it was very quiet, no booking required. There was a big TV on. The place is not for special occassions or romantic meals. The food is OK but they don't accept cards so it's not very convenient.

when I was invited to a birthday partyh there, I was shocked at how far I had to travel as a North Londener, but by the time we'd finished our lunch, we agreed on one thing: it was definitely worth it and we will be back! unbelievably fresh and tasty dishes, friendly atmosphere and service.

The food is good but it has become ridiculously over priced over the last year or so. we have stopped going there because of that.

Masa is the greatest foreign cuisine restaurant so far we have tried in London, with reasonable price and good service, except slightly slow in deliver dishes. Every dish, from drinks, starter to main courses, really tasty!! However, dessert is just fair, most are British style, like chocolate fudge cake, ice cream, only few are Afghan style, so, we didn't try it. For drink, we tried mango lassi, like mango yugort, not too sweet, fresh mango taste, love it. Starters are pea mash (hummus) and grill aubergine with Afghan yogurt sauce, served with naan, really much delicious than I expected!! The main courses are mixed grill meat, succulent lambs and chicken (both breast and wings) and mantu (dumpling) with minced lamb sauce served with Afghan rice, can't believe there is dumpling dish in Afghan, extremely yummy!! Masa Restaurant is thoroughly recommended!

Just made the great trek to NW London for lunch and was not disappointed by the huge amount of tasty, very reasonably priced food. Service was slightly slow, but friendly, and not a problem as we weren't in a rush. I just wish this place was closer to home.

i been to masa 2 times the first time the food was good and the service was poor,as the starter appeared with the main course slightlly after a minute and we had a on the house Turkish delights (baghlava)the second time went again for this thought that this time the service might have improved but another disappointment that we had our meal cold and the service was worster than last time, will not recommend to anyone unless u want to spend for nothing, and this time will try the new Kabul city restaurant in Edgware highly recommended by too many families
