You may recognise celebrity chef Nancy Lam from her Channel 5 show. What better way to try her unique Indonesian and Far Eastern cooking than in her own family-run restaurant. At Enak Enak (Indonesian for "yummy yummy") she serves honest, healthy meals in a smart, homely setting. Favourites include her famous satay, barbecued prawns and home-made sorbet. Everything is cooked fresh and its best to come with good company and a mind to relax. This isn't the place for a quick bite. The eccentric star occasionally comes out of the kitchen to chat with excited diners, the majority of whom are locals. Marco Pierre White regularly brings his family here. The lovely staff have a talent for remembering your name and helping you enjoy yourself.

Nancy Lam is still going strong in this nearly forgotten corner of Lavender Hill where the surrounding pubs are going down hill a bit and the cooler shops are making way for estate agents.  But the curries and friendly welcomes still abound here at Enak Enak, and the home cooked gentleness of a restaurant quietly feeding its fans continues.  The starters are my favourite: I could happily eat a selection of these instead of a main - something they're happy to allow - especially the satay chicken and beef - delicious!  The wine is always perfectly chilled and the beers flow without too much prompting.  Highly recommended from me is the Beef Rendang and the Deep Fried Squid or Prawns, as mains.  Utter Indonesian perfection.  And best of all, Nancy is always on-site and remembers your last (in our case: hundreds) of visits.
