Venue says: "One-off, 12-course-tasting menu on Friday October 7 at Osteria 60 with Yoji Tokuyoshi of Michelin-starred Ristorante Tokuyoshi. Book now!"

This upmarket Italian restaurant is located in the five-star Baglioni Hotel, in Kensington. If it's anything like the hotel you can expect some pretty fancy fixtures and fittings. The kitchen here is run by Ivan Simeoli.

His menu ranges from wild sea bass carpaccio with sea urchins and blood orange to linguine vongole in a courgette bisque, Welsh lamb chops with a Sicilian aubergine caponata and veal milanese with vignarola salad and lemon mayonnaise. Desserts include an 'Osteria 60' tiramisu, a negroni cheesecake and an Amalfi lemon tart with sorrel sorbet.

Memorable modern Italian food is hard to come by in London for a vegetarian and I had high hopes for my next dining adventure. Osteria 60 is a fabulous new Italian restaurant located in the Bagaloni Hotel opposite Kensington Gardens. I happened to stumble across a TimeOut offer for a three course meal from the vegetarian menu at Osteria 60 which I was excited to try.

The restaurant is beautifully decorated – elegant with a stylish art deco twist. Statement necklaces hang on a couple of the walls which I loved! Being a jewellery lover, these immediately caught my eye. There is also a terrace seating area which would be great for summer (if we get one that is!). We had the following dishes:

Smoked beetroot salad
Spring minestrone with basil cracker
Garden pea soufflé with sea beets salad and black truffle
Parmigiana

The warm bread and whipped butter we started with was divine. Could have eaten this all day! All of the dishes were presented beautifully using creative arrangements and vibrant colours. Fairly small portions and it seemed as if the main focus was on the presentation rather than creating memorable flavours that would entice diners to come back. I am all for playing with food presentation, however the taste didn’t live up to the wow factor (hearts in your eyes) you feel when the dishes are served.

I enjoyed the beetroot salad the most because the ricotta and beetroot complimented each other well. The pea soufflé was disappointing – the soufflé pieces were very small and hidden under a bed of leaves.Parmagiana is one of my favourite dishes at Italian restaurants and I have never seen it done like this before. It was a whole baked aubergine stuffed with mozzarella. The parmigiana was generally bland and a bit dry. It could have done with some more tomato sauce.

Osteria 60 is an exquisite restaurant to try for the atmosphere and stylish dining experience. While the staff were incredibly kind and I couldn’t fault the service, if I come back I would skip straight to dessert. The vegetarian dishes were lacking that something special I was hoping for.

Took the timeout offer with a 3 course vegetarian meal & prosecco. The food was beautifully presented & we also indulged in 2 cocktails each, which were uniquely made for our tastes. The service and staff were excellent but the place lacked ambiance & for some reason I thought that we may get a view over the park. A pricey end of London and definitely a one off but I'd give it 4 stars as the staff, cocktails & food were all on point.
