  • Really disappointing, this used to be a great restaurant but the standards have seriously dropped. It took an hour for starters to arrive, and when they did the potions were tiny. The £5 calamari starter consisted of 4 small pieces, the vegetable mee goreng contained no visable vegetables, and one small piece of tofu. Very disappointed, wont be going back.

  • Incredibly delicious, especially the chicken with coconut and tomato (can't remember the name). Really friendly service too.

  • Went here last night and was really impressed, the food was all delicious especially the Rendeng and aubergine dishes, the fried food is a little dry but still tastes fresh and nicely charred. Extremely nice atmosphere, good service and cheap bill around £60 for four. Well worth a visit if you're in the area.

  • Our experience I'm afraid is much the same as the latest person to leave their comment. This was our third visit to Puji Puji, the first 2 visits were excellent, the food, atmosphere and hospitality were great. THIRD TIME UNLUCKY! We waited almost half an hour for our food, the vegetarian tofu dish was fine. However, one of us ordered the chicken stew. The chicken was on the bone and when cut into was blatantly pink and under cooked. We called the owner over to polity question the state of the chicken, she reluctantly took the plate away after telling us the chicken had been cooked for hours - so it could just be dark meat. To us, it was not cooked at all. She then brought back the plate a few moments later minus the offending chicken saying she would knock some money off the bill. Who wants to eat the rest of a plate full of uncooked chicken???? Our friend asked for the beef dish instead. The beef arrived and yes it was equally crap. It was obviously a fatty, stringy cheap cut of meat. Our friend didn't eat much of their meal, put off by the whole experience. Such a shame, this could've all been saved by some excellent customer service. Bringing the same bloody dish back with some meat scraped off the plate and expecting our friend to eat it and then the beef being crap. All the discount we got was £2.50 - they minus 1 coconut rice. Sorry but we wont be eating here again. Such a shame.

  • I have been going to Puji Puji for a year now and when i first discovered it the food was great, the service was great and the atmosphere was great. I went last night with 3 friends and it could not be further from the above if it tried. When we walked in the atmosphere seemed different, no candles on tables, no ambient lighting, we ordered our food 2 dishes arrived, one of which tasted heavily of nothing but fish sauce. The 3rd dish arrived about 15 minutes later this fried rice with chicken satay, the satay was amazing as always however the rice also tasted of nothing but fish sauce and the vegetables in the rice where frozen mixed veg sweet corn, carrots and peas! The 4th dish never arrived and when we asked where it was the waiter went to another table and picked up 2 dishes and bought them to our table, they had delivered it to the wrong table and after sitting there for 30 minutes tried to give it back to us!!! By this point we had had enough so we asked for the dish as a takeaway, so the same one that had been sitting around was put into takeaway containers, the final straw was when we asked for the bill they tried to charge us for the dish!!!!! When i asked for the dish to be taken of the bill this was done but reluctantly and with no apology at all. I find this a shame to write this review as this used to be a friendly small family ran business with excellent food and reasonable prices.

  • This is the true review! I read the reviews on this website before going to Puji Puji and was very excited by what I read. I also went on the restaurants own website to check out the menu. When I arrived there i was given a menu that was completely different to that on their own website. I told the waiter that the menu on their website was different, I was told that I must have looked at a wrong website. 15 minutes later another couple came to restaurant and also mentioned that the menu was different on their website. Surely we both didn’t look up the wrong website. When our food arrived the presentation was very poor and so was the taste. I’m shocked by the other reviews they are so far from the truth!

  • I went here in June 2010, had a lovely meal and brought our own wine (no corkage fee). The place was almost full (on a Thursday night) and had a warm atmosphere. I would really recommend this place, it was cheaper than a take out too which is a bonus!
