Just around the corner from Victoria station, Kazan combines a bright modern bar with a Turkish restaurant. The interior is divided in two, the bar on one side and the restaurant proper on the other. Food consists of variations on traditional Turkish cuisine. Presentation was immaculate; food was served on stylish plates, many dishes covered by metal covers shaped like Ottoman domes, rising to a point. For starters, börülce was a tasty black-eyed bean salad, while börek were raised above the norm by virtue of the outstanding filo pastry. A main course of sultan lamb kebab was in essence a well-prepared şiş with vegetables, served with rice and a salad. The vegetarian moussaka was excellent, featuring layers of nicely cooked vegetables and a good green salad. The Turkish desserts here, particularly the baklava, are first-rate too. Kazan’s very Turkish take on a modern restaurant remains popular, and the enterprise deserves its continued success.

Myself and my mother visited this retaurant for Saturday Lunch, after reading great reviews. We were not disappointed! fantastic modern restaurant, with brilliant service from staff who recommended the mezze (as we wanted to try a selection of food). The food is extremely good, and I do not feel that it is expensive for what you get. We will be booking to come again (travelling from Bath) in the near future!
