  • Kazan

  • Kazan’s interior mixes modern trends, like large square plates, with traditional Anatolian and Middle Eastern artefacts including tagine dishes and hookah pipes. The atmosphere is upmarket, with a plentiful supply of staff floating about, and, on the night we visited, a slightly haughty head waiter. The menu offers a range of large mezes as well as starters and main courses, traditional and less usual dishes. We sampled the triangular börek, which had an outstanding texture both in the filo pastry and the filling. Also excellent were the sardines, wrapped in vine leaves and stuffed with pine nuts; dealing with the bones was slightly fiddly, but well worth the effort. Quality was maintained with a main course of parmak kebab, a subtly spiced köfte wrapped in slices of aubergine and then baked. Adana chicken was more typical of the food widely served in London Turkish restaurants and came with beautiful basmati rice. There’s a good choice of alcoholic and non-alcoholic cocktails. The sense of luxury is also evident in the splendid toilets. No wonder Kazan is busy and has opened a second branch in the City.

Looking for a pre-theatre meal we came across the Kazan Restaurant and what a find! A short walk from the Victoria Apollo on the 11th of July, my husband, teenage son and I decided we would give it a try and were very glad we did. We had a good selection from the Meze on the menu, the staff were very helpful and attentive, they guided us with the menu as this was our first Turkish meze. The food was superb and extremely good value for money. I would highly recommend a visit. Our first experience of a Turkish Meze wont be our last even if we do have to travel a couple of hundred of miles to go get there.

This is a really great place for value and great food. The meat dishes are delicious!
Give it a go. Really head and shoulders above any other turkish restaurant I have been to in London.

Eaten here about ten times over the last four years. Every meal has been excellent; good customer service, reasonable prices. Very good for groups.

I booked a table at this restaurant for my birthday because I thought it would provide a friendly environment for a group of a dozen friends. I wanted to enjoy a reunion in pleasant surroundings at an establishment that offered solid, flavoursome food. I was not disappointed.
The staff here are very friendly and accommodating, and the pleasantly bubbly atmosphere is great for celebratory events, or even just dining for two if you prefer a more lively venue. The modern Turkish decor is executed with style and I feel that it added to the occasion. All our party had well-cooked and tasty meals and I was surprised at the delicacy of some of the cuisine (our Dolma dish was especially good). The eagerly anticipated shisha capped off a fantastic birthday meal, albeit on the cold pavement outside the restaurant.
My only gripe was that the busy (but always convivial) staff sometimes forgot our drinks orders over the course of the evening. I was also disappointed that some of our party were served their meals much later than the rest of us. But all in all I would definitely recommend this place for a similar event.

The food we had here was truly amazing - the best Turkish I have ever had, and it didn't fail to impress our Turkish friends either. Service was great too, very friendly and efficient.

The official reviewer's three stars are a bit grudging I'd say. The food is superb - my favourite is the aubergine mezze called Imam Bayildi, which is beautifully fresh and well-seasoned, but I also liked the cooling non-alcoholic cocktails with fresh mint and the proper Turkish delight and baklava. The staff are exceptional too - friendly, knowledgeable and always willing to advise as Jemma says in her review. This is what a great neighbournood restaurant should be like and the good folk of Pimlico are lucky to have Kazan on their doorstep.

Myself and my mother visited this retaurant for Saturday Lunch, after reading great reviews. We were not disappointed! fantastic modern restaurant, with brilliant service from staff who recommended the mezze (as we wanted to try a selection of food). The food is extremely good, and I do not feel that it is expensive for what you get. We will be booking to come again (travelling from Bath) in the near future!
