How this place hasn’t racked up more reviews is beyond me- The Diner is INSANE and this branch in Covent Garden is one of the best.

I like to think myself a connoisseur of the burger. In 2013 I made it my mission to identify London’s best burger; it was a great year but unfortunately my tightening waistband prohibited me from trying all joints to make a definitive decision however, The Diner, and specifically The Juicy Lucy, were extremely high rankers. If you appreciate meat cooked with care and attention, The Diner is for you. The classic beef patties are pink, juicy and so damn tasty, but what is great about the Diner is its inventive and creative menu.

The aforementioned Juicy Lucie is a triumph.; a pulled pork pattie, slight fried then stuffed with an oozy cheesy sauce on a sweet brioche bun with a crunchy, spicy beetroot coleslaw. I mean, need I say more?! And at £9.50, it might break your arteries but it won’t break the bank. Or if, like me, you simply cannot inhale too many avocados in one day, try the Californian (£8.50); a burger topped with Monterey Jack cheese and some of the good green stuff, smashed and mixed with Diner sauce. The fries selection is also second to none; waffle fries, cheesy fries, crinkle-cut fries, Denver fries (think onions, cheese, chilli and all sorts of melted goodness), the list is endless.

When you crave a good, proper, heart-stopping (in both senses of the phrase) burger, The Diner always satisfies and I have found the vibe and service at the Covent Garden branch always to be excellent. Take a trip and enjoy outstanding American diner grub done at really reasonable prices…and the mandatory food coma which comes after.

Firstly, the diner is pretty small compared to its other sister stores. It smells a bit musty in there, it's an old building and I think maybe it's a bit K-O'd on old grease etc. However, don't let that phase you because the food is actually pretty decent. Prime time hangover food: burgers, chips, all day breakfasts, chicken wings, mac n cheese.... you name your dirty pleasure, these guys have got it. I went for the chicken burger and chips, both were very good.

Service was friendly and fairly prompt, and the meal wasn't expensive. It's actually a lot better overall than its other London counterparts - I've had dreadful service in their other stores but these guys seem to have nailed it. Good spot for a quick bite to eat, probably not one to linger in for a romantic night out.
