On a trusted personal recommendation, I made a point of checking out this interesting sounding eatery. And I found a vibey, relaxing, friendly establishment, tucked away in a small alley/square off a busy Regent Street, and with lovely food. Well worth going out of one's way to visit (this Time Out review - albeit from way back in early 2012 - seems to really undervalue a great little gem here!).

This small Swiss chain updates the buffet concept with a modern feel. Essentially a pimped-up salad bar, it’s popular as a rest stop for shoppers.
There’s outdoor seating in a courtyard dubbed ‘the Regent Street Food Quarter’, and several punters were just treating it as a bar. It’s less pretentious than its neighbours and perhaps that’s what draws the crowds – the place was buzzing on a midweek evening.
Staff explain the 'concept' as you enter – pile up a plate (or takeaway container) on the central buffet boat and pay by weight, minus a free bread roll.
For the Mayfair location, prices aren’t bad, though the large choice of dishes can make it easy to overload your plate. Prices per 100g vary depending on the time of day, moving upwards from breakfast. Thirty-odd salads and hot dishes span the globe in their influences, and could include flavoursome coconut and tofu curry, good, crisp samosas, creamy gratins and pasta bakes made with organic eggs and cheese. Salads were fresh and embraced a varied array of produce from celeriac to chickpeas.
The minimal selection of desserts (slabs of cheesecake and sticky toffee pudding) looked unappetising, but in general Tibits has hit on a successful formula.

This is my favorite vegetarian restaurant in London. All the food is delicious and creative. Chefs were constantly bringing out hot and fresh servings of all the salads and meals available so there was so cold, half empty trays sitting in the salad bar. It is not the cheapest meal you will get, but what you would expect for the standard and the location.
**Same review as below, but for some reason it gave it 5 stars when I wanted to give 0** Never in my life have I been so dissatisfied with what I was told would be good food at a good price. The food was ok, but this place is over-rated and well over-priced. £7 for a small small box of food - and lots of the cold food would have been much more appetizing if served hot. Not the friendliest staff either. Such a shame as I had high hopes.
OMG I LOVE this place. The selection of food is awesome and they change it up all the time so it's not the same dishes. They keep the popular dishes which is great... have been here 6 times now and have brought 5 meat eating friends who were also very impressed with the food. Timeout has definitely not given it enough credit!
Like the other reviewers before me, I too fundamentally disagree with the Time Out review. I've been to Tibits twice so far and aim to return often! Both times the food was delicious. The ambiance is lovely inside (NOT at ALL like a canteen!) . The staff were helpful, friendly and efficient. And it's reasonably priced given its prime location. This is a great option for vegetarians.
I just can't understand how anyone can give Tibits 2 stars out of 5. This is literally the best speak-easy place for lunch in town
