Enter this tiny coffee shop and you could be forgiven for thinking you can pick up something a bit stronger than a flat white. Beer bottles are lined up against deep green tiled walls, and even Tonic's choice of name call to mind a bar. But it's part of the Coffeesmiths Collective of coffee shops, and is dedicated to a big variety of proper coffees. The cakes and biscuits were also made by someone who knew what they were doing – we enjoyed a tangy lemon loaf cake and almondy Bakewell slice on our visit. Seating is very minimal (two stools) and there is little space for anything more. It's good as a place to pick up a very well-made coffee on the go, but not recommended for those who want to rest their legs with a savoury bite to eat.

I first got a coffee from here accidentally... It looks vaguely like the entrance to a victorian swimming baths, just down from a top hat shop so I was intrigued. They're so efficient I got sucked in and spat out with a slice of banana pecan loaf and a strangely fruity latte. Both of which were insanely delicious and a welcomed surprise considering I hadn't realised it was a coffee shop. It's a weird, charming, swift way of adding coffee and tasty carbs into your morning, but at well over £3 for the world's smallest latte, I always feel pretty guilty getting anything from them. It definitely falls into the treats category rather than a morning staple. Unfortunately.

I love this place! I very often pick up a coffee here before work, and I love how they always remember my face and my order. The staff are really friendly and welcoming and the coffee is great! They don't serve food, but they always have a display of cakes on the counter, and it's great how it varies from day to day what they sell. It is not a place you can sit down and enjoy a lunch with your coffee (I wish!), but the perfect place to pick up a take away coffee before work, a meeting or just as you stroll around Soho. I have already finished a couple of loyalty cards. Recommended!
