The name is odd, as is much about this Battersea haunt. Mismatched chandeliers, and candles wedged-in bottles, vie with a 'Mediterranean' menu random enough to keep even regulars on their toes. But weirdest of all are the prices, kept down by the every-day set menus.

Fresh-off-the-boat salmon gravadlax (definitely not Mediterranean) followed by spinach and ricotta-packed filo pastry pie for only £10 was lunacy (and the lunch deal is even cheaper). Especially when generous portions, delicate presentation and smiley service are included.

So what's the catch? Aside from a few bits of fatty meat in the sweet 'n' spicy gypsy lamb, a soggy base to our banoffi pie, and needing to be quick to beat the locals to the seats - we can't find one.
