A handy spot to grab a bite when you're in Covent Garden, K&O is tucked away just off the main drag on the north end of Floral Street. The compact space is just enough to accommodate two buffet-style tables from which staff serve you with savoury and sweet comestibles (we've experienced both helpful and brusque service). Each day you'll find a variety of substantial, flavour-packed, imaginative salads that let high-quality vegetables shine: raw cauliflower, chunky broccoli, celery and beansprouts; or roasted red pepper, courgette, aubergine and chickpea - accompanied by walnut bread or rosemary-flecked focaccia. Hot dishes could include chilli con carne and chicken pie. The array of mouth-watering cakes might feature delicate lemon layer sponge, tarte au citron, bramley apple pie, treacle tart and giant white chocolate and macadamia cookies. The more interesting dishes tend to sell out speedily, so get here early to beat the lunch-hour rush. Seating is scarce, but arriving back at your desk with a K&O lunch box beats munching a pre-packed sarnie any day.

It's safe to say it's luck of the draw. I have visited this place a couple of times, first time was served by a young chap in their, was great I had a delicious salad and a lovely piece of lemon cake. Second time, I was served by a young lady - I just went for salad my salad box was only half filled which meant it was very little food for £4.00. They don't take cards either which is a bit of a downfall. Now I feel a bit negative about the place, where as before it was all positive. As lovely as the food is, it's not cheap, therefore I expect quality in every way.

Just ate at Kastner & Ovens for the first time today and absolutely love it! What a fab fresh solution to fast food to take away back to the office. I've somehow missed this place on all my tours around local restaurants - I will definitely head back tomorrow!

Lovely place, great atmosphere, awesome cakes! i had the chilli, it was good, not amazing, but fresh and just spicy enough. What i really loved were the friendly staff that took time to go through all the cakes and dishes even during a busy rush hour, with a que out the door. The treacle tart is the best i have tasted, pastry light, and nice citrus treacle mix. Absolute cracking lunch!

Arrived there at 1.30pm and there was a very minimal choice of food left. However selected a cornish pastry which was delicious, the filling and pastry was light and tasty. My colleague selected a banoffee pie which was equally scrumptious with bananas and cream. Will definately go again and make sure l get there early.

Best lasagne outside Italy. Nothing better after a hard sesh in the nearby Nuffield gym.

I tried a new branch at 100 Middlesex St, EC1 - had a take away of Jambaraya - an extremely mean portion & extremely pricy for a half filled carton box with overcooked rice with no ingredients. Totally different from their display. Never again.
