You could do far worse than grab a wurst at this miniscule joint specialising in German sausages. You'll find the whole family here: bratwurst, rindswurst (pure beef sausages), currywurst - even short Nürnberger-style wursts filled with punchy herbs. Roll up at the counter and order from a concise menu with three set meals - the popular classic includes a wurst of your choice, served with healthy heapings of hot sauerkraut (properly sautéed with peppercorns and niblets of bacon), buttery potato cubes and bread (add 30p to upgrade to the pretzel menu). We only wish the default were two wursts per serving, as the generous helpings of sauerkraut and potato can get a bit boring once you've finished with the sausage.

As a German for the first time in London I thought it would be too bizarre to eat bratwurst abroad, so I can't give any comment. But I was astonished that they had Tannenzäpfle, a fine Black Forest beer, which you definitly don't find everywhere in Germany and which has gained kind of 'cult status' in metropolitan bars and 'in' clubs in Berlin etc., probably because of its quirky old-fashioned 70s style label and anti-smart-marketing image ...
