The walls of this established Keralite restaurant are covered with photographic wallpaper depicting coconut-fronded beaches and sunsets; a full kathakali dance costume sits imposingly in one corner; and statues of Krishna and his girlfriend Radha adorn the counter.
Food-wise, we recommend sticking to specialities such as avial (vegetable stew), vellappams (large, frisbee-shaped crumpets) and thorans (vegetable stir-fries that include diced beetroot and grated cabbage). The dosas, idlis and vadai are also fine, but several restaurants in Tooting now do these better, and cheaper.
Recently we've found RKB inconsistent - on our last visit, a mango and yoghurt curry (kalan) contained yoghurt that had curdled, giving the dish an unappealing lumpy texture - but there's seldom much to find fault with.
