It may be London's largest Korean restaurant, but Asadal is easy to miss: a discreet doorway beside Holborn tube station leads down to a dimly lit, graceful cavern with spot-lit stone walkways, exposed brickwork, wooden columns and gleaming tabletop barbecues.
The main dining room is warmly convivial, and often humming with business people at lunchtime. At the rear are a couple of elegant private dining rooms - handy for groups, though we have felt remote and forgotten when eating there.
For a not-too-heavy, not-too-light lunch, the bento boxes are a good choice (albeit with City pricing); the appealing options range from galbi and bulgogi to battered seafood and stir-fried vegetables.
Alternatively, there are plenty of diverse big bowl dishes among the 'lunch sets': five types of bibimbap, three neng myun (cold buckwheat noodles with spicy sauce or chilled soup), slow-cooked mackerel in soy and spicy sauce over rice, and more.
Start with the mandu - dumplings made on-site - or pa jeon (spring onion and seafood pancake). Drinks include herbal infusions, soju and Korean beers, plus a serviceable wine list.

Babies and children welcome ( high chairs ), Booking advisable, Separate rooms for parties ( seating 6 and 12 ), Disabled ( toilet ), Takeaway serviceStaff was extremely rude. I live just around the corner from this restaurant, about 6 minutes walking distance so that I came here quite often. One day there was an event in this restaurant at 6pm and I got there at 5:30hrs. Assistant manager (I think called, alec, did not seem to be korean) literally 'kicked me out' saying I have to get out as the restaurant was not yet open. He did not even say 'I am sorry but....' He treated the regular customer as a complete shit. As the restaurant is in basement, I went upstairs on the ground floor by the main entrance to wait, he again said. 'you have to get out because I have to clean this ground floor' The ground floor was a tiny area and he barely cleaned, just pretending to sweep for a minute. I said, It is bitterly cold in this winter (it was very cold day) and I come here quite often. He kicked me out and locked the door. Nobody was attentive to listen to the complaint. It was horrible and utterly disappointing. Nobody even bother to call for the owner even though I requested for the call. You may have a good experience, it's fine, but if you ever have anything to complaint (as sometimes it happens), you will never be heard, indeed you will be treated as rubbish.
went for my 30th bday, it was pricey and the portions were small, the staff were rude, and the meat was not fresh as i found out later being very very ill
Very nice place to visit. The atmosphere and everything is very posh, very kind services. Loved it very much. Will back there for sure))))
I've been to few Korean restaurant berfore but I think asadal is one of best korean restaurant in London. Food is excellant and very kind and great service....
This is not a bad little place. Had lunch here twice (though on the company account not my own!). I'd agree the bbq is probably not the best offering - try arang in Golden Sq - but I think the stone hot pot dishes and kim chee pancakes are rather good.
the place and access is great and food was ok and not so expensive.
but the waiters are awful. they kept coming to trying to take the plates and rush us.
as soon as we finished the main meal, they come to ask if we want some desirt, but we were full for that moment and needed some time to think about it. But they still kept coming to our table many times one after another, so we didnt feel staying there at all.
It was really uncomfortable experience.
I strongly recomend you RAN restaurant in soho if you wish to have korean food
this is the worst dinner time ive ever had in london.
the waiter and floor manager was so rude that we lost the word.
ill never go back there again. id rather go to Mcdonald's than to this place because at least they(Mc donald's)know what the customer service is.
This is the first time I had Korean food London and was an unpleasant experience . The portion is small and expensive . We ordered the BBq beef and it wasn't fresh and .This is our first time and will be our last time .
Been several times and the food is authentic korean. Service is always quick and polite. Will be back for more when the urge for Korean food arises. BTW, very convenient too being next to Holborn tube.
My other half and I went on firday. We arrived without a reservation, but staff where helpful to fit us in
Service and good where good and we would go back agin
been there a couple of times. great food and service!
I wouldn't bother to go back. The food was just ok, as I had much better before and for a cheaper price. Also what I didn't really like is the waiters. Especially one of the older lady (maybe manager or something) when she came to take order of drinks and then tell me it is not the time to take starter order, DRINK FIRST!!...not lying, she didn't say it in a nice way. we almost thought of leaving. but we were starving
Anyway one thing was that the food came so quick that my glass of beer was still half full at the end....and another waiter tried to take it away btw....embarassing!!
Great place and great food! Our waitress was really polite and patient and explained us how to eat the Korean bbq and the service was fast too. Food was excelent, we enjoyed every dish very much and would definetly want to go back soon. Don't get scared of the proximity to the tube station, once inside it is very neat and elegant.
