Located in a slightly dingy row of shops just past Angel tube station, Sa Sa Sushi is more appealing on the inside than out. The cool, cream interior and friendly service create a relaxed and accessible atmosphere.

Customers include families with kids who are cooed over by the staff. Yet while the service is attentive, from cheery welcomes to constant tea top-ups, the food can be hit or miss.

Mixed sashimi salad contained a pleasing selection of fresh-tasting fish with an earthy sesame dressing; thin slivers of pink-edged radish and shredded carrot enhanced the dish's appearance.

Scallop butter-yaki, on the other hand, was a disaster. The puddle of strong, salty brown sauce in which the shellfish swam added nothing to their overcooked flesh. A tuna maki was also of mixed quality. The fish had a lovely, silky texture and plenty of flavour, but the roll was bursting at the seams with its contents spilling out.

Judging by previous visits, and the high quality of the fish that the kitchen uses, this was not Sa Sa Sushi at its best.

Good reliable sushi place for regular visits.
We go to Sa Sa for sushi cravings (about every 2 months) and the place is a friendly, down-to-earth sushi restaurant and very reliable for its good fish used in the sushi. I have also also had good Udon +Tempura there several times but mostly opt for the sushi.
Prices: are ok. You mostly end up with under 20£ and had a satisfying quantity of fresh sushi + green tea. (We have never felt overcharged for what we got.)

Considering the area of overpriced "flashy" mediocre restaurants, SaSa Sushi definitely one of the better choices when in Angel.

Sushi here is amazing! I discovered this place only 2 months ago and I crave for its food!
At first glance the place may not seem like much, very simple décor but it's very clean and comfortable and staff is really nice.
My favourite sushi rolls are the tuna crunchy and the melting salmon, however I tried most of the others and all of them had great and interesting taste. ("Sa sa deluxe" is good to try few different things).
The price is totally reasonable: £15-20 each (for a miso soup, 11-18 sushi roll pieces and tea or water).
I'd strongly suggest this place for an easy and delicious dinner.

Sa Sa Sushi is great! the food is really really good and better than average. Everything looks and taste amazing. Great value for money!
The ambience is nothing special but it's clean and comfortable, and service staff are kind and smily.
Great overall experience.
For sure a place to consider if you like japanese food.
