Zooming from a high-profile 1991 launch and subsequent overzealous expansion, to the American bankruptcy protection courts (twice), the Planet Hollywood chain has led a rollercoaster existence. Indeed, it's something of a surprise to find that it's still going, much less that it moved to a new room on the Haymarket in June 2009. The old space was hardly attractive, but the cinematic ephemera and knowingly brash ambience did combine to lend it a certain kitsch quality. This new room, though, decorated but not quite designed, is blandness personified, bafflingly devoid of glamour and charisma. There's still movie memorabilia, but apparently less of it, and much of what remains is pretty low grade; it seemed appropriate that we were watched during our lunch by a life-size cut-out of George Lazenby. The food's decent at best (sparky shrimp fajitas) and poor at worst (artificial-tasting milkshakes, dry burgers), with prices reflecting a sense of prestige that's conspicuous by its absence. The chirpy young staff do their best, but they're being asked to star in a sequel with all the box-office appeal of Arthur 2: On the Rocks.

Went to Planet Hollywood with the family and had a great time, service was spot on and so friendly, food was great, specially my steak, and we kept well entertained too, kids loved it. Will recommend it to everyone.
We had a great time on my anniversary and will go back. highly recommended
Very disappointed with our visit to this restaurant, food and service very average (although quite highly priced for what it was) finished off by my friend finding herself stuck in the disabled toilet with no toilet paper - not acceptable for any establishment, particularly one charging these prices and of this so called reputation. Will not be visiting again.
