This genial spot near Spitalfields (and with a new branch in Soho) now has its own roastery on Brick Lane - which is where they produce their signature East espresso blend, and also roast small batches of Ethiopian Sidamo or Harrar, and decaf organic Columbia del Obispo. But Nude wears its expertise lightly: the cafés are unpretentious, perfect for meeting friends or for taking a shopping break.
The pillar-box-red Hanbury Street branch is roomy (with good loos downstairs); it's not as sleek as some newer arrivals, but possibly more relaxing. Table service was being trialled on our most recent visit, so an element of confusion was to be expected - but our excellent coffees arrived promptly and with a smile.
The display of food (all made from scratch on the premises) is tempting: feta and spinach scones, focaccia sarnies filled with cheese and charcuterie, white chocolate and banana muffins, anzac biscuits. You can buy Nude's whole bean coffee to take home, visit the roastery to pick some up, or order online.

Baristas are good, however on every occasion I have been, the other staff have been appalling whether busy or not; disorganised, disinterested and thoroughly lacking passion for the product. Customers are made to feel like a nuisance and not valued for paying a premium price for what is supposed to be a premium product. A real shame as could be so much better.
It pains me to say that the coffee was good because the service was thoroughly charmless. However, a decent cup of joe alone is not enough: there are dozens of other places close by selling equally damn fine coffee without the surly - nay, rude - attitude. I'll be checking those out instead. Nude Espresso, get over yourselves!
I've been going to Nude for a year or so as i work round the corner. The coffee, although pretty expensive is generally great. The staff's demeanor tends to range from 'too cool' to borderline rude. However on my last visit I was actually tutted at and told off for putting my dirty spoon in an empty glass on the counter. Presumably the girl didnt want to have to go through the lengthy and arduous glass rinsing process. Will miss the coffee but will be looking for a new local coffee spot on brick lane from now on.
I couldn't disagree more strongly with previous comments. Went there last Saturday and thought the staff with unfriendly in the extreme. Food ordinary. Music super-loud, tinny and dated. Food unexceptional. We hated it so much we couldn't suffer it long enough to have coffees. They need to seriously revisit their people skills. Avoid.
they roast their own beans and make their own blend. Coffee is awesome, especially the Cappucinos are lovely, my favourite in London! Also you can get a free coffee when u buy a bag of beans
I must say, the coffee in Nude espresso has never failed to impress me yet. The friendly staff are the real reason I keep returning though. Well done for putting them on the list.
