Just round the corner from the perennially heaving, crowd-pleasing Tayyabs, and far from a million miles away in concept, Needoo Grill opened in 2009 and continues to be a more civilised provider of Punjabi grills, curries and snacks. The relative lack of queues also means it's a useful and speedy spot for takeaway.

Over repeated visits we've found the food consistently agreeable and the staff friendly, even if the menu does little to differentiate itself from its local counterpart - it was opened by a former Tayyabs manager. What you get is meaty grills (mutton kebab, lamb chops, king prawns), a few street food staples (samosa, pakora, paneer tikka roll), stridently spiced curries ('daighi' dry lamb, dahls, karahi meat dishes).

Take your time choosing and try some of the more unusual daily specials - lamb korma on Wednesdays, say, or nihari, made with slow-cooked lamb on the bone. Everything is good value, and there's no corkage on BYO. We wish Needoo aimed to be a bit more than a lookalike alternative to Tayyabs, but even so it's hard to fault for both execution and prices.

Amazing restaurant - looking forward to another visit soon! Food is reasonable and tasty - so tasty we had to take our leftovers home in a takeaway box, which the waiter whisked out as though it was a regular request. Despite it being a busy evening, staff were incredibly friendly and obliging and we didn't have to wait long for food. Try the dry meat curry, yum - and of course a mango lassi ; )

Excellent place to eat! There lamb chops were 100% better then Tayyabs and so was their fish. Their quality of food was wonderful and so much better then Tayyabs. I think Tayyabs are losing their quality because they are so busy, so they are lacking this, but Needo' food is so fresh and totally awesome! I will be going there now and I will be letting my family know that this is a better place to go.

Brilliant Place! Jugs of water on every table without having to ask. I always just have a starter in there as the Needoo Mixed Grill (£10) on the starter menu contains 2 kebabs, 4 Lamb Chops and 5 pieces of chicken - all beautifully prepared and spiced. And do try a jug of Mango Lassi which is so light and tasty. The Kulfi comes on sticks which are actually chopsticks - how clever. Hot towels and mints are standard and where else can you get a Cappucino for £1.30?

The first comment is just someone from Tayyabs or something with a grudge. The food is definitely on par, and I am a BIG Tayyabs fan. I do think though that in the last year or so teh qualoity at Tayyabs has varied more. It used to be better than what it currently is, which is STILL one of the best. I agree with a poster below; dry meat curry> awesome. I disagree though on the lamb chops. The ones i had were better than at Tayyabs the last time I had them. But to be frank I may prefer the chops at Lahore down the road... although overall both Tayyabs and NeeDoo are slightly better than Lahore... there you go! btw, the ditor of Time Out apprantly knows nothing of good food, or NeeDoo had teething problems when he/ she ate there.

Amazing food, great service, superb value for money. The staff could not do enough for us. From the outside it does look a bit like a chicken shop but inside you are treated to delicious food and great service. Well worth a visit....I'll be going back very soon!

I happen to disagree totally with comments made below.
This restaurant is so not the sister branch of tayyabs if anything tayyabs should take pointers from Needo grill.
Having been a customer of tayyabs for over 10 years, I must say going to Needo was a breath of fresh air. The food is so authentic and amazing. The staff are so friendly and chilled, they are not chucking the bill at you whilst you still eating your main course or practically chucking you out as I have experienced many times in tayyabs. Great value for money, the owner Ali has worked very hard towards the opening of his own restaurant, I will definately be recommending my friends and family to Needo grill.

I'm not sure if the posters below have a grudge, but what nonsense. Poppadoms on the table happen at most similar restaurants..and at 50p each hardly break the bank. If you don't want them, send them back, but it's hardly a scam. The owner used to be a chef around the corner at Tayyab, but they've never claimed to be a sister branch. After several years eating at Tayyab I have been converted by Needoo. The service here is vastly superior, the attitude of the staff much better and the food just as good - with the possible exception of the lamb chops, which are just edged by Tayyab. If you've not had it before, try the dry meat curry. It is amazing - you won't regret it.

This place is very sneaky!! As soon as you arrive, they give you poppadoms, with sauces and salad.... When the bill comes, you get charged for it.... DO NOT fall for it! The food is not all that either, a waste of time and money!!

Guaranteed Diarrhea Alert!!!!

I would not recommend anyone to eat at this place, the food is substandard, service is slow and ridiculous, and the quality of the food is, well I could cook better!!!
