Part café, part bicycle repair shop, this newcomer's dual identity allows diners to munch on toasted cinnamon bagels while their gears are tuned. The formula is popular with bike-loving locals, and those without wheels of their own can hire a yellow tandem for the day (£20), so as not to feel left out. Even non-cyclists have to admit that Lock 7's canalside location is a pleasant breakfast spot, where bowlfuls of muesli with yoghurt, fruit and honey can be chased with scrambled eggs and tempting pastries. Lunchtime options change weekly, but quiches and toasted sandwiches appear regularly on the blackboard menu. Lock 7 is quirky and informal, with the gentle clinking of spanners lending a friendly community feel.
