A food-lover's delight, this specialist cookbook shop has a small kitchen and handful of tables at the back, where co-owner Eric Treuille puts recipes from the cookbook of the day to the test. The results are offered as a set lunch from noon - arrive promptly or you'll miss out.
On our visit, a roasted pepper stew with sausages (all meat is organic) came from Antonio Carluccio and Gennaro Contaldo's Italian cookbook, and passed the test with flying colours. Complementing this was a puy lentil salad starter with own-made focaccia, and, for afters, a choice of cakes. We opted for a delightful chocolate caramel soufflé cake with pecans. Enjoy it all with a glass of red from the owner's own vineyard.
If you want to recreate the dishes yourself, pick up the cookbook on your way out - or sign up for the cooking classes offered.
