First-time diners may be surprised at the conviction with which this pasta-oriented arm of the Pizza Express franchise emulates a smart European restaurant, and that's as true of its interior - from the candle-strewn fireplace and artful light fittings to the gleaming bar and chunky wooden tables - as it is of the food itself. A starter of bruschetta came loaded with sun-dried tomatoes, red onion and shredded fresh basil; a roasted portobello mushroom pizza was effortlessly light and generous of topping; and an enormous portion of chicken and spinach risotto made up in creamy consistency what it lacked in subtlety of flavour. The location can mean tourists aplenty, but it's an otherwise decent location for an affordable first date.
