Simplicity restaurant in London's Rotherhithe, tucked away on Tunnel Road, is the very definition of a hidden local gem that deserves a much higher profile, at least, according to its legion of loyal diners. Simplicity is small, bright and friendly, offering uncomplicated British and European cuisine made from the best local ingredients, that are freshly sourced every day. The prices are honest, too. That's the Simplicity restaurant philosophy in a nutshell - delicious meals, fresh, local, British produce, reasonably priced – a way of thinking that earned it a high ranking in London's Local Food Hero awards. The menu changes daily and seasonally. Dive into specials like a grilled pork chop studded with garlic and rosemary, mashed potatoes, buttered cabbage and gravy or homemade salmon fishcakes served with mixed salad and hollandaise sauce. Daily dessert specials are also worth saving room for. Wine lovers are particularly well-cared for with Simplicity's carefully compiled international list.

What is 'following'?i went there today and it was lovely, food was fantastic the pork was out of this world, the service was excellent and roses given to mothers free added to the experience.
i would go again and recommend it to others
Ive been to simplicity 3 times and to be honest it's not really good enough. The produce may be fresh and well-sourced but on each occasion really basic errors in the kitchen let them down - a £15/16 steak cut so thin it couldn't be served rare, chicken breast that had pink juices running from it ("that's because it's free range sir"), fish cooked in foil that had dried out served with rock-hard vegetables.
Add to that wine by the glass that starts well over £5 for what is nowhere near a 175ml serving, waiting staff who need a little more training and enthusiasm and a 'Gary Rhodes trained chef' (it's on an a-board outside) who hasn't been in the kitchen on any of the visits we have made and the place loses it's appeal.
It seems to me as if Simplicity has lost it's way a little. Friends who have lived here longer remember better meals, however none of them go anymore.
A board outside offering tickets for a wine tasting event at £48pp might be a great deal somewhere. But not here.
