A simple mix of darkwood furniture and walls decorated with colourful Greek trinkets, Vine Leaves is as popular with local lunch-breakers as it is with parties capitalising on its cheerful vibe and abundance of shareable meze – from an enormous portion of expertly grilled haloumi and piping hot dolmades to basturma (spiced, cured meat). All of which is easy to fill up on in itself, but it’s a shame to miss the mains, the lamb kleftiko meltingly tender and alive with the tang of lemon and cinnamon, the beef stifado rich with red wine and wonderfully warming. There’s also a varied vegetarian menu, and staff are happy to dispense advice on the compatibility of dishes with various Greek wines on the menu.

I have been a regular at this restaurant for 15 years. The food is wonderful - a very good range of dishes, always freshly cooked, delicious and piping hot. The portions are huge - I usually take home a doggy bag and have a good lunch the next day. My favourites are Shish Kofta, Sea Bass, Kleftico, Chicken Soliatico. If you are feeling ravenous, the sharing platters or full meze are all excellent. This place is only a short walk from Westfield and twice the value of the restaurants there. However, your guide prices are well out of date - mains are now £10-£15.
