I've been visiting the Painted Lady - and Tina - for over two years and it's one of the best places in a little bit of Shoreditch. And very good value. Tina and the team are always friendly and welcoming - often with a coffee, tea, wine or beer and friendly chat. Her mani's and pedi's are always perfectly done with care and in record time and I always leave feeling like a new woman - even if it's just my hand and feet! I love the place.

Located on a street that boasts APC and a Conran Hotel as neighbours, the Painted Lady could be forgiven for going a bit upmarket. However, this gently lit, cute little salon is much more interested than what was going on in 1950s hairdressing than the contemporary Shoreditch scene. As well as contemporary cuts and colour, the stylists at TPL specialise in screen-siren up-dos (£40) like Marilyn waves or Hepburn rolls. They even dispense lessons for groups in retro styling, so you can recreate the magic of the salon in your own bedroom.

Am loving my lunchtime trips to Shoreditch for my nail appointments... I came across the Painted Lady whilst looking for a new nail salon whilst my usual girl has taken a break as a new mummy. Easy bus ride from my office near London Bridge, fab salon - great atmosphere and styling with vintage accessories. My shellac manicures are wonderful thanks to Tina.... slowly making my way through the vast selection of colours! Tina is such a perfectionist - girl after my own heart! - so nails always look fab... scrub and handcreams smell devine. (Don't forget that nails are cash only)
I first made an appointment at TPL after a colleague recommended it. I have since not gone anywhere else cause I absolutely love this place.. The atmosphere in the salon is really relaxed, friendly, unpretentious.. you get offered a drink and made to feel really welcome. My hair dresser Nuria is always chatty and smiley but most importantly she's a very skilled hairdresser and stylist. She really takes her time to cut and style my hair the way I want it and is amazing at giving me advice on what I can do with my hair (I loved the balayage!). The rest of the team are always super sweet as well and for the price I won't be going anywhere else anytime soon!
I absolutely love going to The Painted Lady for hair and nails. I really recommend Nuria for cut and colour services. She's the stylist I have been looking for for years. Having spent money at more expensive salons where I often felt there was little value for money it's great to feel you are going to get what you ask for, good advice if you need it- plus fair pricing. Nuria totally sorted my hair colour out after a mishap at another more pricey east london salon and I haven't looked back. She's Spanish but speaks really good English and also works as a session stylist and has worked in one of the top salons in Barcelona too. In case you hadn't grasped it by now- I think this girl is great. Go to Tina for nails, like other reviewers have said, she always tries to fit you in, even if it's really busy. You go downstairs for pedicures where she'll put on some 1940's music, make you a mean cup of tea and have a good gossip. So much nicer than going to a sterile nail bar. Every time I go to The Painted Lady I feel welcomed and really look forward to going there- a great bunch!
Tina is lovely and the manicures and pedicures always look perfect! Totally recommend Shellac as it lasts forever and doesn't chip. I have been going there for at least a year now and always walk out happy. Next one is booked already...
Tina is amazing! she is such a perfectionist and her shellac manicure lasts for ages. The service at the Painted Lady is always extremely friendly and you can relax and enjoy your treatment. Easily the best manicures and pedicures I have ever had!
Easily the best nail salon in London - so lovely and relaxed, and the neatest work ever - Tina is amazing. So professional and thorough, never had a chip yet and even if I didn't live locally I would cross town to keep going to the painted lady, just head and shoulders better than anywhere else I've been from West London to the City.
The service in the painted lady nail shop is amazzzzing. I would recommend anyone passing by Redchurch street to pop in and get your nails and pedicure did.
I have been getting my hair cut and dyed by Belinda for six years, and wouldn't dream of going anywhere else. The vibe at The Painted Lady is fun and chilled, and not at all pretentious like other Shoreditch salons. I recently started getting my mini manicures to by Tina, which are very affordable (£16) and by far the neatest I have ever had! No one rushes in this salon, you will just get the best possible service from very skilled staff.
i have been getting my nails done by Tina here for the last 9 months and wouldn't consider going anywhere else. The service is really friendly and the treatments are top quality. I have shellac manicures and pedicures which never seem to chip and loyalty is rewarded with a free treatment when you've had 5. i recently got married and Tina came out of hours to my hotel the night before to do the nails of myself and my bridesmaids the night before the wedding. i highly recommend it.
I have become completely addicted to the Shellac manicures here. The paint job is always total perfection and lasts for weeks - the only reason I have to go back is because my nails outgrow the paint rather than because they are chipped. And if they do get chipped the lovely Tina offers to repaint for the first two weeks after your appointment. There's a great laidback atmosphere - if you want a showy, flashy experience this is not the place for you, but if you want to relax and have a cup of tea and a friendly chat during your treatment then I'd say book away.
