Parliament Hill Lido
Central London

Built in 1938 and refurbished in 2005, the Grade II-listed Parliament Hill Lido measures a generous 60 metres by 28 metres. It has a stainless steel pool liner (the only one in an outdoor pool in the UK) which gives the water a metallic shimmer – not that you'll be able to tell when it's packed full of people on a sunny day. The lido is unheated, but wetsuits are permitted at the lifeguard’s discretion. There are two sessions a day (7-9am and 10am-6pm) with an additional adults-only evening session on Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays. There's a paddling pool for under-fives and a cafe.

My absolute favourite place to spend a morning in London......in the winter, at least. Summer sounds like it gets a bit manic, but if you want that wintry lake plunge feeling in beautifully clean, not-too-chlorinated-water right on the edge of the Heath, there's no better place for it. Check the timings online or give them a call because I've made the 'what do you mean I can't swim with the wetsuit clad triathletes' mistake before in the evenings (and it's super long, so beware starting a length of butterfly and then being surprised you're nearly drowning), but other than that you're good to go!

This is the best pool ever. Sun July 14th was the hottest day ever and the first time the pool has ever been closed due to overcrowding. I am going on this Sunday with some friends....

This is one of the worst pools I have ever been. Overcrowed until the point to be dangerous, no space to spread the towell, 6 police officers, 2 with dogs!!!... due to the masification we decided to leave in less than 10 minutes, no refunds at all. We have asked for a claim form as it was not normal the amount of people inside and the queue outside. No claim forms were provided saying that they did not have claim forms at the customers dispossal. It is mandatory by law to have claim forms... three people asking us why we wanted the claim forms... it is obvious!! to claim that a maximum aforo must be respected, even in a sunny day where everybody is wishing a bath and pay for it... if the swimming pool is full, they must not allowed more people... dangerous and bad. I do not recommend at all this place, specially in sunny days... very money driven without respect to law and common sense.

The pool is very clean, huge, perfect for summer, good for open water swimming / triathlon training (there are often people in wetsuits). The best time to go is for early session between 7-9am just for £2. The only snag is, that at one end the pool is quite shallow, people with long hands will touch the bottom while swimming crawl :c).

Really good, clean and relaxed - the pool is big enough to contain the children at one end allowing others to splash in peace the other.
