  • Love musicals? Love the movie Shrek? Then avoid this unless you're younger than 10. While the movie Shrek seemed aimed at younger teens, with plenty of appeal for an older crowd, the musical seems to be aimed at 6 year olds. All the subtext of the plot and character seems to be ripped out of the musical as if either the production assumed children won't get it, or the actors themselves don't understand that the words in the script have emotional weight and aren't just there to fill space between songs. It was very painful to watch.

  • Went to see this on 18th July 2012, a good show with a bit for everyone. The dragon is great and some of the scenes are brilliant, plenty to see for a 2nd show. This was show we chose to watch on our 25th anniversary and we were not disappointed.

  • This is a must see for all ages. I went during the opening week and found the acting and the whole production phenomenal. Amanda Holden was starring when I saw it and she was also amazing. I thought that because it was shrek it may be boring for adults and teenagers but I was laugh-out-loud funny.

  • Surprisingly good. Nigel Harman as Lord Farqaad is a tour de force and even Amanda Holden is decent. Fans of musicals will love the numerous spoofs of other shows like Les Mis, The Lion King and so on that are liberally sprinkled throughout the musical. Parents need not fear that the show will bore, as it has enough saucy wordplay to entertain the grown-ups and enough fart gags for the kids.

  • Well, I saw the show last night (May 9th) and to the person that said they UK can't out do the boradway one, think again. Nigel Lindsay was Spot on as Shrek, perfect accent and a great voice (much better than the States one, just have a look on youtube) Holden as Fiona, sounds exactly like Fiona in the films and the acting just looks better in general on the uk one. I was blown away, as I expected it to not be as big as the US, but was far better so no worries there. The cast all round was brilliant, the sets are fantastic, matched by the songs. The whole thing leaves you with a smile on your face. Highly reccomended from somebody that doesn't really like musicals that much. A must see
