Coral: Rekindling Venus

Time Out says

A film installation by artist Lynette Wallworth, made in collaboration with arts commissioning agency Forma, which is being screened in planetariums around the world to coincide with Venus's transit of the sun. A circular projection screened in the Royal Observatory, Wallworth's film is a portrait of the world's coral ecosystems, filmed by underwater cinematographer David Hannan, with a soundtrack by Antony and the Johnsons, Fennesz Sakamoto, Gurrumul, Max Richter and Tanya Tagaq Gillis. Inspired by the 1761 and 1769 Transits of Venus and international scientific co-operation that took place during the Age of Reason, Wallworth intends her film to be a call for global unity to help save fragile marine environments. The Royal Observatory's Transit of Venus programme also includes contemporary art works by Matthew Luck Galpin and Wolfgang Tillmans.
